Essex Camera is still in business on the second floor. The first floor was under water after Sandy. The telephone and e-mail service is very hit and miss, but it is business as usual.

They are alive and well, but their shop was flooded by Sandy. I dropped off a camera a couple of weeks ago and had it back in a week, but the phones and e-mail do not seem to be working very well. The had to move up to the second floor since the first floor of the building took on a few feet of water. Mr. Kim said they lost "many cameras."

I have used Essex Camera Service in New Jersey for my Nikon repair and they are excellent and fast. Highly recommended.

I wanted to report excellent experience with Essex Camera Service in Carlstadt, NJ. Last week I dropped off a Leica 50mm rigid Summicron for service. The aperture ring was off and there was some haze and dust on the internal elements. I picked up the lens today and it looks and feels brand new. The charge was $80 plus tax.
I heartily recommend!

The graduated ND filter is used to overcome extremes in contrast, such as bright a bright sky with main subject in shadow. I use them when shooting in a city with tall buildings to even out the lighting, or with landscapes just before sundown for the same reason. They will not really have the effect you are looking for.
The filter rotates like a polarizing filter, so just look through the viewfinder and rotate until you get the effect you want.

Thanks, David. It is amazing, my children, ages 15, 28, 30, and 32 love the Beatles as much as I did. Driving into NYC on Sunday, this photo is displayed on a huge billboard over the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel. My wife freaked out when she saw it!

Does anyone know who took the photo being used in the Apple ad for iTunes, the four Beatles against a white background?

Shine a flashlight through the lens. You might find fungus on an element which would cause this problem.

Thank you all for your help!

I recently picked up a Nikon FE2 with a SB-15 flash. I know that the camera should automatically synch at 1/250 sec. in the Auto mode when the flash is turned on. However, the viewfinder needle does not indicate this shutter speed, instead showing the speed it would normally set without the flash. Is this functioning properly?

Do you have a strap on your camera? Could it have drifted in front of the lens for a fraction of a second?

Thanks for the information. If I get my stuff or get a refund, I will let you all know.

Has anyone purchased items from Precision Photo/Boca Photo recently. I ordered from them a month ago and have not received my items and they have not returned phone calls or e-mails.

Gerry, Essex Camera is tops. They have worked on my Nikons and Leicas and I have never been disappointed. I recently brought them my Nikon FM that developed a shutter problem. They fixed the shutter, did a CLA, and I had the camera back in two weeks. The cost was $125.

The key to mixing D-76 is to use water at the temp recommended. If cooler it will not completely mix.

I am thinking about purchasing some equipment from Sherry Krauter's Golden Touch. If an item is rated a "9", what condition can I expect? Thanks.

I have recently upgraded to CS4 from Photoshop Elements4. I expected to find a plug-in for my Epson 4990 scanner at File>import>epson 4990 in CS4 automatically as I have in Elements, but it is not there. Is there a download for this that is readily available? Thanks.
