Taken at twilight from the Olmstead Island overlook when the river was
near flood stage.

This is a close-up study from Great Falls on the Potomac River. I have been
trying to capture the feel of rushing water over the rocks. Comments?

Taken early one morning on the Potomac River south of Great Falls.

Early morning out on the Potomac River. Comments?

Taken at Lake Needwood in Maryland

I particularly liked the way the line of clouds is like a reflection
of the track of the river. Comments?

This was taken looking straight down off of one of the Olmstead
Island bridges at Great Falls, Maryland. This part of the falls is
only full during extremely high water. For views of this same
channel during normal water, look here:

Taken late afternoon at the end of March during an extraordinary cold
snap. Comments please.

I arrived early on Monday to photograph the cherry blossoms, and
caught this shot waiting for the sun to rise.

I like the way the various lines (the road, the furrows, the clouds) draw your eye into different parts of the photo. Very effective.

Taken on the way to work last week. I was particularly trying to
capture the effect of the sunrise and clouds over the frozen Tidal
Basin.

These stairs are in a tiny park in Baltimore between the two halves
of St. Paul Street. I have driven by it hundreds of times; I
finally stopped the other day to take some photos. Comments?

I completely disagree with the last critique; having seen both photos, I think the B&W blows the doors off of the color version (and it's not just because i'm an old B&W film hack). The model is attractive and the composition interesting in both photos, but the B&W captures a range of tones that really brings out the curves and contours of the body. The color version isn't bad, but it doesn't have nearly the same level of interest. Nice job.

This photo was taken around the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC. The
cherry trees are a common photographic subject in the spring when the
flowers are in bloom, but the fall colors are just as photogenic.

I've seen this scene hundreds of times when the Cherry Blossoms are
in bloom; this is what it looks like in autumn.
