  1. That occurred to me, too, except "no light needed."
  2. I'd settle for truly infinite depth-of-field.
  3. In the 1976 movie "The Man Who Fell to Earth" an invented camera is touted to be self-loading, self-exposing, self-focusing, self-developing, no light needed, and it "sees more than you do." Wotta camera!
  4. Good shot. It's fine as it is. The darkness on the right gives the eye a place to land and from there to explore the rest of the image, as well as providing context. Imaginative photographer!
  5. I retrieved the camera quickly, it was in the water for only a few seconds.
  6. In addition to things like loading film backwards in my new (used) Hasselblad, shooting with lens cap on, etc., there was the time my camera wasn't locked onto the tripod and fell into water when I was shooting at a wetlands site. Fortunately, it was a film camera, I grabbed it, shook out the water, and continued shooting. Neither film nor camera damaged, pictures came out fine.
  7. I like this picture although I, too, would like to see less of the bottom area. I'm curious as to what else is at the extreme right, that hint of curve and shadow is intriguing, possibly less intriguing if it were shown in full which may be why it wasn't included. The blank wall at the top adds to the picture in the same way that silences contribute to conversations.
  8. Less than perfect result from loading film backwards.
  9. REALLY constructed landscape, probably not what Leslie meant. . . Life-size giraffes by Martin Taylor (Oakland CA) on display on Mare Island, WWII-era gantries in background.
  10. "Saddle Gap, east of Douglas (AZ), 1967" written on back of print. Unedited scanned print.
  11. Hey, Leslie, your selection this week sent me down the rabbit hole. I spent years photographing wetlands, mudflats, and wetlands that became mudflats at low tide. Here's one from 2008. I am also a long time dues-paying member of the Mudflat Appreciation Society.
