I am having a problem with getting the Sunpak TR-PAK II to wirelessly trigger my flash when I don't have regular
batteries within the battery housing of the flash.
Equipment:
Pentax K10D
Ebay RD617 Reciever connected to Sunpak Auto 444D
Ebay Wireless Transmitter on Camera Hotshoe
Sunpak TR-PAK II connected to the Sunpak Flash via side mounted cable
I can manually trip the Sunpak Flash using the Test Trigger button on the Flash when the TR-PAK II is the only
source of power.
I can manually trip the Sunpak Flash using the Test Trigger button on the Flash when there are four alkaline batteries
as the only source of power.
I can get the flash to be triggered when I press the Test button on the Ebay Wireless Transmitter when there are four
batteries as the only source of power.
I can get the flash to be triggered when I press the Test button on the Ebay Wireless Transmitter when there are four
batteries loaded in the Flash AND if I have the Sunpak TR-PAK II connected to flash and the Power switch in the AC
position on the Flash.
However, If I remove the four batteries from the flash and ONLY use the TR-PAK II as the power source, then the
wireless option does not work. Any ideas what may be causing this problem?

Ron, I would jump over to Freestylephoto at:

Take a look at all the options available for B/W film and take a look the Ultimate Film Development Chart here:

Ron, I just bought several Sanyo Batteries from Battery Junction. The item # is 2CR13N

Thank you all for your responses. I connected the pack to my Sunpak Flash and everything appears to work just. I can fire off several shots at full power and it recycles in a second or less.

Model modification to TR-PAK IIa from TR-PAK II

I just purchase on the big auction site a new Sunpak TR-PAK II with the NI-CD
Cluster pack. I have the power turned off and charged the unit overnight, but
the Fully Charged light has not come on. The unit came with the appropriate
charger also.
Am I doing something wrong, or do I just need to wait a bit longer, or is the
battery just no good?
I will be using this unit on a Sunpak 444D flash.

Phil, I have a broadband connection and it takes several seconds before I see anything on your first page. You should have a low bandwidth index.html page of people will go somewhere else that loads faster.

J.E.G., thanks for links, but neither is for the ae finder that I'm looking for. The manual I need is for the FK402 that has the diopter settings around the eyepiece. The first link you provided is for the FE401.
-
Can anyone provide a link or be willing to sell a xeroxed copy of the manual
for the mamiya 645 sv ae reflex finder? I can't find one after doing an
extensive search.

Jermaine, I just ordered a Metz 40 MZ-2. You will need an SCA 396 adaptor and also a Metz SCA 300-E System Converter. The flash was found on *bay.

Nicholas I just sold all of my Pentax 645 equipment on the big auction site because it does not have the option to switch film backs in mid stream. I have since purchased two Mamiya 645 Pro TL cameras with the all the necessary accessories.
There is nothing wrong with the Pentax 645 family, I just wanted to have the film back switching option. One thing to keep in mind though is that Mamiya sells the body without any prism mechanism. This is an optional accessory and they provide several for you to choose from. I haven't done the math but you will end up paying more for the same functionaliy in the Mamiya line vs. the Pentax family.
Download a manual for both camera models and do your homework before purchasing anything.

I just bought a Metz 40MZ-2 for my Mamiya 645 Pro TL camera and need to know
what component is missing to complete this flash setup. I also purchased an SCA
396 adaptor that has a round 6 pin cable that is connected to the camera. It
also has sync cable that is plugged into the camera. What I can't figure out is
what component I need to plug the 12 pin Flat cable into.
It appears that I need a 300e Adaptor or a Powergrip (what model Powergrip)
that goes onto the Flash. Is this the component I need that will ensure that
this setup will work in a TTL fashion? When I purchased the SCA 396 adaptor, I
thought this was the only adaptor that I needed for TTL functionality. Any help
would be appreciated.

Robert, I want to use this teleconverter on a 150mm or 210mm mamiya 645 manual focus lense. Are you saying that I will need the teleconverter and a mamiya adaptor in order for this thing to work?
-
Has anyone had any experience with this Teleconverter for a Mamiya 645 Pro TL?

Franz, how do you fasten the camera strap to the lower indentation of the right lug and the still connect the winder? I can connect the strap to the top of the lug, but it interferes with the motor winder in the top position.
-
On my Mamiya 645 Pro TL (used) camera that I just purchased, the lug on the
right hand side of camera sticks out further than the one on the left. I can
attach my camera strap (Optect Type B) to the right lug, but there is not
enough clearance on the left lug to slip the strap clasp onto the lug. It's as
though the lug on the left side is depressed or a piece is missing.
Are the lugs on both sides of the camera supposed to have the same
height/clearance?

I am not sure if there is dust on the Finder screen, but I certainly see a fair
amount of black specks on the screen regardless to what lense I place on the
camera. I have the FE401 finder and was wondering, if there is a safe way to
clean the finder? I don't have a manual.
-
Got it. Thanks Doug.
-
Dan, thanks for the response. There is a slide switch on the FE401 Prism Finder right above the eyepiece that blocks the view when you're looking through the finder. What is the purpose of this switch?
-
Just purchased a used Mamiya 645 Pro TL and downloaded the manual, but it's not
clear how to properly use the camera with the FE401 Prism. I am using an F2.8
80mm Manual lense and I need some guidance on how to use this camera in
aperture priority mode. I have the lense set to A and the exposure dial set to
A and the FE401 set to Auto A-S.
Do I manually change the F-Stop on the lense to something that will allow a
hand holdable image and the exposure time will automatically change within the
finder area? What are the steps for Manual exposure Photography?
I can not find a manual for the FE401, so if anyone can provide a link it would
be greatly appreciated.

Giovanni, this link from the one you gave me above is just what I was looking for. Thank you very much.

I have just received a Polaroid Back with no instructions. I can't figure out
how to load this puppy. I don't see any levers to open the back. In addition, I
can't remove the Dark Slide. Does the polaroid back need to be loaded on the
camera before the slide can be removed? Secondly, are there any manuals
floating around that go over the loading of the film?

Can someone give me the calculation on what is the equivalent lense in 645
format as compared to 35mm. I am interested in a wide angle for the Mamiya 645
Pro and see there is a 45mm and 55mm lense available. How do these two lenses
compare to a 35mm lense in 35mm format?
Sunpak TR-PAK II, Sunpak Flash and Ebay Triggers
in Lighting Equipment

Nadine, I don't care about TTL as I am trying to use Manual settings for the Flash. That will be my next challenge to see, if I can dial up or dial down the amount of light coming from the flash using the Manual settings on the Flash. I bought these TR-PAK's used without manuals so, I'm winging it.
PS: I also have two Sunpak 510 Batteries and those instructions don't tell you what to do with the internal batteries within the flash.
