Fabulous capture of that wonderful stage in a child's life. The sister's reaction in the background really adds to the ambiance of this picture. I just love it! :) -
They are indeed a lovely trio. The light falls across their faces quite beautifully... BTW, what is the stripey thing across the legs of the mother and the youngest?

This is a beautiful image! As for your question, there are two methods that come to mind... One is a filter, Neat Image. You can play around with it, but it generally makes the whole image soft. There is a freeware version of this available. The other option is to erase the background in photoshop, and replace it. Try Backdrop Designer by digital anarchy to recreate the background.
