  1. hi Bernard

I have just test out what my D80 is doing. I also have auto iso on and I have the 50 f1.8 mounted. normal exposer is 1/50 f3.5 so I can go down to f4 1/40 and up to f1.8. when I swith outo ISO off I can go to every setting I would like up to. also up to f22, ok than I have half a secound exposer time but I can turn it in.

  2. thanks for the quick answer. I will have to look in a shop if I would like the Lowepro it looks more like a backpack to me.

Keith I don't know if I would like to have a D3. I am not brilliant with the D80 so I would propably sell a D3 to get some better glas ;-) and books to lern more. A good tool will only produce good results in the hands of a master of his trade. it wount give ME better pics. only more wight to carry around.

  3. Hi guys,

I was asked the other day what I would like to have as a present. So I thought

to wish something for my camera equipment.

So now the question. I would like to have something to carry one D80 with 18-

    135 attached + one spare lens (nikon 70-300 ore sigma 10-20) + SB600 + filter.

I like the Crumpler bags as they don't look like that there are camera bags.

But I don't know which sice will suit my needs. Are there other bags you can

recommend? Say should be shoulder bags as the Crumpler daily bag. I already

have a backpack wich suits my needs as a backpack, but nothing for cary around

    with easy access.

thanks for your help any helpful suggestions and other thoughts and opinions

    are welcome

  4. hi guys

my dealer near by have this two lens right now and I was wandering if there is

a big difference between those. I want to have a small wightlight lens in that

range because I dont like to take my 70-210/2.8 on trips... Is the AF-D much

    better with a flash?

    I will use it with a D80+sb600 and f90+sb26

    thanks for help

  5. hi Juri

have a look on www.dpreview.com they have a hands on review with the D300. they are showing the fokussing with the screen in a video. it look like that you might get no problem to get a good fokus at macro work with the screen.

  6. hi guys!

I have a very specific question. I have an old picture it is from my

grand, grand, grand, grand, grand father and mother. It was made before 1851. It is

a Daguerreotypie which is a picture on a silver plate.

What I would like to know if some one of you know how to handle such a picture.

if there are things like not to place in direct sun... ok I would not do that.

I dont know anybody who have experiance with such old pics. They are not realy

common. and I hope some one of you have had an experiance with that kind of

    picture.

    thanks Thomas

  7. hi Brian

I do not have any of the mentioned lenses but would like to say that Sigma is going to bring out the 18-50 f2.8 with HSM in the next weeks. I no not know if you want to wait or if it is already availabel but it will improf the handling much ofer the screw drive version.

  8. hi

I use the the Transcend 4GB card and I found it a bit slow when taking many shots fast. I have it with a D80 and I think it is 10 MB/s when writing. what I have read at dpreview the D80 is able to write with I think ist was 16MB/s. so if you are not going to take fast shots than there is no problem at all.

  9. hi guys

I am just wondering how long the lifetime of the internal flash is. I have the D80

and a SB600 and I love to trigger the SB600 with the camera flash. But by triggering

the flash the internal flash have several flashs.

Does this feature reduce the lifetime of the flash? Ore are those

comunication flashes such low power that they do not play a big deal in life time?

Anyway I am not a pro and I am using that combo only for portray and close up work

wich gives me some nice effects. So I do not think about getting a SU800.

There is an other option maybe to get a Metz 58 AF-1. Does someone have expirience

with this flash? It cost 100 euro less than the SB800 and should be capabel of

triggering with the Nikon wireless flash system.

    thanks

  10. I would go with a Fuji F30 ore F31 not the F40. it has a big sensor and the noise is very low. also it has P S A M mode so you have some good stuff to play with like on your D200. and it is damn small. have a look on www.photo.net what the noise is compared to the canon. when you see the difference there will be only one solution ;-)
  11. I have read this tread compleatly and have not found one word about the different dvd standarts. as there are huge differents in reliability.

    1. DVD + R

    2. DVD - R

    3. DVD + RW

    4. DVD - RW

    5. DVD RAM

there is not a big different in + ore - DVDs so you can make the selection to DVD R, DVD RW, and DVD RAM.

these discs are different in there storage layer. and the DVD R is most prown to loss data. normaly they are capable to store data about 1 to 5 years. DVD RW are capable to store data for approximately 2 to 10 years.

DVD RAM is more secure because it always verify the data while it is writing on the media. but you are paying for the disc a lot. also it has a longer live time ~ 10 to 15 years. but I'm not sure with this.

for CD you have the same problem. they normaly have a live time of 5-10 years. then your data is gone.

!!!SO I WOULD SAY DVD AND CD ARE NOT SAVE TO STORE YOUR PICTURES SECURE!!!

what I'm doing is that I have 2 external hard discs I will save all my pictures on. they have huge capcity and are faster then every DVD ore CD will be. and one of this drives are at my parents home and I'm going to back up my drive with that drive every time I'm visting them. so if one storage get lost, broken, stolen... what ever I have a back up. and you are not paying much for it. it is for two drives ~200$ and you have 100 Gb for more pictures than your shutter is able to do. ;-)

that is the way to go. CD and DVD can be used to share the pictures with your freands.

  12. hi elliot, if I read everything right you want some light wight setup. you already have the 55-200 so why don't you look for the smaler 18-50 kit lens which comes with the d40? it is lighter than the 18-135. I don't know how heavy the sigma ore tamron 17-50 f2.8 are but maybe they are also not as heavy as the 18-135 / 18-200.

by the way I would go with a more prime like the sigma ore tamron but I don't like the screw drive so I stick to my 18-135 it has some ca and also as sayed some distortion on the wide end. I can't compare it with the 18-200 but I already have made some good pics with the 18-135. I realy don't like the plastic mount but for your wight it might be ok.

  13. hi ron, if you are going to take the SB-600 flash take also a light dome like a stofen one. it will realy help in the picture qualaty. and compare that with the sb800 because in that set there is already the dome inkluded.

I usualy shot indoor with a 45? angle and the light dome on. also I use shuter priority down to 1/20 to get some ambiente light. but with fast movement of the children you have to shot fast... I don't know if the camera can handle 1/250 with a flash but it should work good.

if you have the extra money for the sb800 go for it and wait until the thirt part lenses have AF-S. that is also the point for me why I stick with the kit because I dont want to have something else then a AF-S as a walk around lens...

    take some nice shots!

  14. I would also say you have to go to a dealer and take the bodys in your hands. But if you have time to read a bit about both cameras there is www.dpreview.com they realy have a good review on all interesting cameras. I personaly made my desition on there reviews and while I was at a dealer and took both in my hands. afterwards you can think about glas as both systems have realy good lenses.

have fun joining the digital world of pictures

  15. if it is a friend of yours you can make some one happy and you have always the posibility to ask if you can use the camera for a week.

if it is for someone you hardly know I would keep the camera or give it to someone in the family
