Two questions in one:
How long should I fix and wash for? I am using Ilford HP5 400 with Kodak
hardening fixer (not rapid fixer).
Also, how many times can I reuse the fixer? I'm essentially pouring 20 ounces
of the fixer into a tank with one reel of 35mm (even though it only requires 10 oz).

Okay, I tested the fixer on a short piece of unexposed hp5 for five minutes. This is the first step towards b&w processing I've ever done (midterm week so I don't have much time until next week).
Anyways, the film is completely transparent, but the negative itself has a purple tint. Is this normal?

As soon as I realized what I did, I dumped ice water to make up for the remaining .8 litres (you're supposed to start out with 3 liters, mix, then fill to one gallon). I'll let everyone know how it turns out. It's very cloudy btw - not transparent.

So I didn't read directions carefully and mixed the fixer (Kodak) at around 125
degrees F or 50 degrees Centigrade. The directions tell me to mix it at 18-25.5
degrees Centigrade or 64-78 degrees Farenheit. Is this going to cause me problems?
How long to fix? How many reuses?
