any feelings on the proportions of this image?

nice moment, nice, expression (horse and rider), nice color. I would maybe stand a smidge to the side. the angle is different from the classic which is cool, but it makes the rider look like she has lost her position and is about to fall off. This is my opinion as a professional rider, more than as a photographer. Cheers.

For any comments on my first forays into strobe land.

A bit blue- as I understand it this can be a problem especially in the mountains, on the water... and shadowed snow always looks blue, argh. Warming filter or photoshop will fix all that though! Other than that a nice picture, skiier is sharp, the perspective is nice, the hill is steep and the snow looks pretty good wish I was there!

It looks like the chase is on. I can't decide whether or not this would be a better picture from the other side of the boats, with people hanging out over the lifelines etc... It is kind of nice without the people, as if the boats, the wind and the water were out playing on their own. Anyway nice use of the frame, nice picture.

A lovely picture that could be from anytime or place. The nostalgic feeling of the balck and white image and the lighting creates a nice tension with the more modern looking cars. While I hate the word crop, have you tried cropping out the car on the left? I like it as an object giving the image a bounded feel but I also find it slightly distracting. In any case nice job.

all I can say is thanks guys, for the suggestions and the compliments.

I like the kind of surreal quality of the fog.

Would really like some honest opinions about whether or not this copmosite aesthetic is
appealing to others. If you don't like it that's fine but I'd love to hear why!

Nice image black and white is perfect here! I like where the horse and rider are in the frame background etc. great! Only suggestion, remember to keep the horses hooves in the frame, you do it for sure, but it's close and there is nothing I find more annoying (as a rider) than a great shot minus the hooves.

Yes! the desaturation is great, it gives it a cool moody, eerie feel. I find the placement of his head so close to the branch a little awkward though, do you have any where his head is more centered in between the to arms of the branch? Anyway nice work!

nice image, it has something recognizable for the brain to hold on to, and the color and shapes are lovely. The layering is nice- like you can peel it back and keep seeing more. I wonder could you make this image if you tried or is it pure luck? Either way nice job.

Kevin, thats kind of what the series is going for so I am glad it worked for you!

I am trying to pare down a body of work and am not sure if this is actually an interesting
image, or if I am just attached to it because of the color...

I think your image is lovely, except the blown out highlights in the background actually push me out of the image. I like the hazy dreaminess of the background but you might consider toning down that harshness just a little. My eye is drawn back by the seats and then I get forcefully ejected by the brightness. If thats what you are going for great... anyway nice job.

Hi Maarten, I used somewhere between 40-50 individual images. I am not sure without going back to count the layers... thanks for your interest!
