  1. In learning more how to scan on my Nikon Coolscan V ED, I'm still

getting inconsistent results. Sometimes I get lucky and a scan

remains true to color to the original Kodachrome. Usually, photos

with "evening light" have colors that don't come through easily in

the scan. Any hints from veteran scanners? Which color space might be

the best choice for the above situation? Any help would be much

    appreciated. Thanks

  2. I cropped this picture out of a much larger TIF file generated from a

RAW file. I was also close to the limit of my 10X optical zoom, as

well. I'd like to be able to enlarge this up to the largest size I

can and I'm worried about losing too much detail (more than I've

already lost). Is there any advice on sharpening you could give,

given that there's so many ways to enhance sharpness in Photoshop? (I

    have Elements 5.0).

    Any other thoughts on aesthetics?

  3. I'm finally starting to learn all the manual functions of my camera.

However, it's still a difficult task to freeze the water without over-

exposing the white highlights. Also, a polarizing filter seems to be

somewhat useless, as the camera re-adjusts in most auto-modes.

Is totally manual operation of my camera a necessity in these

    situations?

It's hard to say which would be better, Ross. It's quite a moody picture and I like those skeletal-like tree silhouettes. I surely would have taken a dozen shots or so to get the best composition. Nice picture, Tatjana.
