The deep blue and the rugged mountains of Crater Lake

Please critique. Conditions were great but my composition might be off

Great blue! Very well done, I might lose the foreground, but it would make it a completely different photo.

I'm not sure the conditions were great....a blue, cloudless sky, especially well after sunrise or well before sunset, is often not the best contributor to a good photo; imagine some puffy cumulus floating by. I think what bothers me the most is the arbitrary cutting of the lake on the left and the right....my mind naturally wonders what's over there out of sight. That's a problem when shooting streams (where to cut the bottom boundary), rivers (whether to include both banks), and lakes (where to cut the wide expanse). You've focused on the island, but I wonder (I've never been there) if a horizontal that included the left bank and the island would have been better compositionally.
