I am showing my ignorance here....what model would this be actually replacing? Any speculation on price point?

Thanks,

Walmart.com has the K20 with the 18-55 for $699.88

I have been debating getting a newer digital camera. I have a k100D, and have been watching for a k20D. Over the last 2 weeks, almost every vendor I have watched has sold out of the K20's. I am glad to see that Pentax is so popular. I have noticed prices are creeping back up. I know a K20 could be bought for $599...now the minimum seems to be $629. So good for Pentax for hanging in there. If anyone knows of a lesser price, please let me know!
Thanks,

I have a k100 that I have had for almost 2 years. I am an occasional user, but am considering upgrading to at least 10 megapixels. I just need the body. I have plenty of lenses, so I am going to buy just a body. What would you get? The k2000 looks pretty good, or do I take the 14 megapixel jump? (I cannot get the K7.

Also, has anyone risk a refurbished camera? I have seen a bunch at Bestbuy.com. My only concern is the 90 day warranty.

Thanks for the input,

I guess it could be the battery, but it is susposedly good for 30,000+ pushes. Ironically, this is the one time I had the manual with me and followed every step. I was using it indoors, no excessive light.

I was at the beach a couple of weeks ago, and wanted to use my remote to take some pictures. The camera would not recognize it. The timer feature worked fine. I had tinkered with the remote early this year, and it worked fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I saw an earlier post abot the deal Costco had going, and it apparently ended yesterday. I checked on Samsclub.com, and they have a limited edition k2000 with DA-L 15-55 and 50-200 lenses for $679. (THe lenses are straight from the site...not sure if the sizes are correct) I also found the K2000 on Bestbuy.com with 2 lenses for $539.
Just thought someone might want to know...

When I was shopping for my K100,I saw those crazy prices on Amazon. I would agree that it is old information..or someone hunting a sucker.

Lindy,
It took me about six weeks for the rebate to arrive. They had emailed me and given an ETA date a week later than when it actually arrived. The only complaint I had was that the check was written out to my name or "Bearer." So if anyone was to grab the check, they could get the cash.

I have recently sent off for my rebates on a K100 and 360FGZ flash. I have
seen some people post that rebates are only valid with what was purchased at
one time. I have read the form several times, and the only restriction is
that double rebates are only available when purchased on the same receipt. It
also says there is a 5 rebate limit per household.
Does anyone know for sure? I am contemplating another purchase.
Thanks,

I just picked a 1 gig Ultra SD card up and tinkered with it in my K100D. I
cannot say I noticed a difference between it and the regular type. Out of
curiosity, what are most people using? I got a deal on it because I had a $10
off of $20 or more at Office Max so it was only $10.
Thanks,

Michael,
It is the 4.7-5.6. I bought it back in the fall on clearance at my local Wolf camera for $75.

I had to go up to Western North Carolina on Saturday to do a bit of work.
Afterward I took my new K100D out. My outing yielded a few pictures. I
started out with the kit lens but ended up switching to my 80-200 FA zoom.

I would say it is a typo for sure. The only double rebate is if you buy the 360FGZ, 540FGZ, BG2 or the 50-200 zoom. At least thats what the official form I am about to send in says.

Well my new k100D and AF360FGZ have arrived. I bought them from buydig.com
and had no problems with the transaction. Now if the new rebate processors
will do their thing correctly. Thanks for the input to my prior questions.
Now to hunker down and read the 200+ page manual.

I am finally going to buy a K100D. I am trying to decide if I should just buy
the body and use my assorted lenses, or to get the kit lens. I know there is
usually a debate on this with everyone here, so let me mention the lenses I
own.
Pentax 80-200 FA 4.7-5.6,
Pentax 28-90 FA 3.5-5.6,
Pentax 100-300 FA 4.5-5.6,
Pentax 50 F1.7,
Pentax 35-80 F4-5.6,
Quantaray AF 28-90 F 3.5,
Sigma AF 35-70 F 3.5-4.5
I also have several A (50 f2.0 and 50 f1.7 135 f2.8)and M lenses (28, 50, 135,
150) and a Zenitar Fisheye.
This is a hobby for me so I have no specific thing that I am trying to
photograph. More than likely will be used on vacation/weekend get-aways and
the occasional party.
I can swing one extra lens or maybe flash, so I am open to any and all
suggestions.
Thanks,
Oscar

Mike,
I cannot recall seeing the 28-90mm AF ever being listed as an unwanted lens (or at least I missed it). What is the drawback to this particular lens?
Just Curious,

Gee, and to think I recently realized that I had a rare K1000 I used to use..it had the split screen and was not an SE model. Maybe I can ship it to Belguim and get a seal placed on it (as well as a new light meter) and sell it for $100's.

I recently acquired an SF1. It came with a lithium battery. I understand
that the battery grip SF swaps out to using AA batteries. Does anyone know if
this grip is bigger than the lithium one? Any insight is always appreciated.

Mike,
At the risk of revealing my lucky fleabay shopping secrets, forget looking at the lenses and start watching for cameras. I picked up an SF camera with an f series 1.7 50mm in pristine condition for $130 (it also had a 35-70 AF Sigma and a useless Nikon lens) You can always resell the camera and keep the lens...though I kinda like the SF. I have also noticed an "a" lens showing up when searching k and m series cameras. I have recently acquired an ZX-L from my dad and was trying to get some af lenses reasonably, and ended up giving up and switching to the camera search. (I still use and Me-Super and ZX-M)One other thing I noticed is it pays to do a general search such as Pentax Lens. Some people don't put the items in the right category and it greatly reduces the bid-up. Thats my 2-cents worth anyway.

Thanks Frank. Thats what I needed.

Hi all,
I obtained a used Pentax camera, and one of the lens is a Vivitar 135 1:2.8
Auto Telephoto with a 52mm filter size. It is not a k-mount and says N/Al on
the bottom. It also has an odd latch on the side. I have only owned Pentax
so any thoughts or ideas are welcomed.
Thanks,
Oscar

My main picture taking will be day time. Typically I anticipate a mix of buildings with an occasional venture into nature. When I go out shooting, I carry at least two cameras (recently acquired an auto focus Pentax) as well as manual Me Super and ZX-M Pentax. I typically put color in the auto and B&W in the manual. As for developing, we have a local shop that develops B&W when someone brings it in.

Hi all,
In the early 80's I took and developed B&W for the school newspaper and
yearbook. Recently, I am getting back into photography and have noticed the
names have changed as well as some new arrivals in the B&W film scene. Does
anyone have any suggestions for a particular film? I used to use Tri-x and
Plus-x. My main goal will be mostly daylight pictures. Comments and opinions
would be appreciated. (I will be paying to have them developed btw)

I have pondered a newer camera...I have the K100D, but didn't care much for the specs of the K2000. I was considering the K20D, but like some of the specs on this new camera...uggh...I guess I will wai a bit longer.
