Remarkable coincidence, beautiful green and tan palette and perfect DOF!

Great action shot Joe! The background really enhances the sense of motion.

Thanks for your comments and ratings!

To me this looks really good as is Roberto. Some of the highlights on the right look a bit blown out so you might try a tighter crop around the middle columns (e.g. as above or even as a vertical crop) although I like your original equally.

Lovely ant-acrobats!

...no freezing/refrigeration involved, this live mantis didn't flinch
while I aimed a 20mm micro lens right between its antennae. Good
halloween material?

Nice colors and sharpness Ibrahim! The red tiles(?) in the background are a bit distracting though.

Beautiful image Alexandru!

Hi Rob, I really like the stained-glass effect of the counterlight through the wing & the "fur static" on the back!
-
I agree with Radu, the green on the right is a bit distracting, maybe a slightly different angle would improve the background

For some reason today was the day when every praying mantis in the
neighborhood climbed up walls. This one came up my screen door and
posed willingly when I transferred it to a plant. Your comments
apprciated!

Hi Gerald, I'd rate this as very good, the crop is perfect and the feathers are nice and sharp and the color around the eye provides an intresting counterpoint to the beak. As possible further improvements, on my screen the white balance looks a bit off towards magenta and a slightly lower POV would have brought down the darker part of the background (more contrast with the feathers while lessening the distracting effect of the bright patch on the right).

Maybe grebe really tastes fishy? And were the gulls actually trying to steal its catch or just mobbing out of general principle? Great catch of rare behavior Monte!
-
Very surreal colors and perspective! The position of the cast-iron pilon and the posture of the lunch-bringing lady are a bit distracting though, the same shot a few secs earlier or later might look better still.

This California Quail popped up in a dwarf oak about 30 yards from me
and I managed to sneak up to it thanks to a conveniently placed
outhouse. Not sure which of us was the more surprised! Your comments
appreciated :-)
