Some cameras have GPS someone was telling me...Regaurding the video mode...Thats just getting away from photography...it will be nice for some people...But i mean soon cameras will have web access on them...You'll have people posting to the forum from their camera....Someone told me "i can crop a image on my camera...Thats why i have a computer.And you have to consider your PAYING for all these extras that are NOT photography...I'm glad Pentax does not have all the additional things..For myself,i want a camera that i can take a decent image with...Amazing thats all i want...I dont want to make movies,crop images or surf the web...I want to take pictures...<div></div>

I paid a bit more...But still its better then a Nikon D300 and a lot less......My Nikon shooting buddy is green with envy....He's shooting the D200......I still paid less then him....Pentax so rocks!!!

I was shooting in the mountains,a waterfall....Had my tri-pod set up...And i was this guy shooting the same falls

free hand...I knew by when i metered there was no way he had enough light to shoot it free hand....So i said

something to him asking his settings...He said he had no clue,first camera,just got it and was shooting in a program

mode....So i told him a few things about shooting and offered him the use of my tri-pod for a shot or two and

explained using a slow shutter speed for shooting waterfalls...

 

I took his camera to set it up for him and i was so lost...I just simply could not find the ISO settings or much

else...Now when i got my Pentax my first ever digital...i turned it on and right away found the ISo and other

settings...Super simple....Canon set ups dont seem to be as easy to navigate nor does the Nikon cameras i have

seen..

 

Is this just me or can anyone else relate to this?....Pentax just seems more user friendly...<div></div>

Scot...Now this is no referance to the comment Bob made.....Scot,i understand that Jordan will get a certain amount of comments from people who are on a much lower level....Some of it i just let go like the "wow shes got big tits"...Its like really,you think i dont know this?...Shes actaully aware of it too...its like wow you have a knack for stating the obvious....But what your saying is because a girl is sexy she should expect a multitude of disrespectful or crude comments...I agree to a point..Some times i react to them,some times i ignore them...Most of the time i am glad that i am not like that nor have i ever been.....You'd think i'd be use to it...I mean you come try shooting with her in public some time...We literally had a train come to a complete stop once....She waved and he sounded the air horn..Her first shoot when she was 15 in a small town 3 times cars stopped right in the middle of the road...It is so bad that i have instructed her when shooting in public shes not to look in the direction of anyone calling out or anything like that.Every time we shoot in public theres 5 or 6 times we have problems with people and thats not even when doing any glamour...I just know that one of these shoots shes going to cause an accident...

 

On my Myspace i have no one other then other photographers and models,its not a issue there...

 

I agree with you to a point....Its just too bad people can not be respectful...Really it shouldnt be an issue.....

Michael.....You may be waiting a bit to see the results....I am going to wait till i can meet up with Jordan to open the box first of all...And secondly my first use of it will be a shoot with Jordan...Jordans getting the month of December off from shooting...So...Even as excited as i am about it i might not be using the camera till mid January.....Jordan is absolutely going to be the first use of that camera...

Well i didnt mean it in a rude way..i was not sure the intent of his comment,could be interpited as inappropriate...Shes a really sweet girl,her jod is at times to look smoking hot and people often judge and misjudge her by that.Which is common in the modeling industry...

 

If he gets the Pentax he'll get image just as good as ant Nikon or Canon...Thats the bottom line...

Getting back to your thread....You'd be okay going with Pentax you can get the same quality as with Nikon or Canon....

Bob...Shes got more beauty inside then out..Shes a very very soft spoken girl,a bit shy and very caring.But make no doubt about it shes 100% diva certified.....

Bob...I have shot the last 2 yrs plus with the Pentax *ist and a $100 lens,Thats the cost of it NEW!!!...The 18 to 55.....I did recently upgrade....When people say Pentax is not professional i ask them to tell me what image of mines not professional...And some,viewing it on line will say oh that looks fragmented,or her arm is out of place or its crooked by 1/32 of a inch....But the bottom line is when i set up at a show people see my work and go "WOW".....I have sold a number of prints of my landscape stuff and of young Jordan...These are 12 by 18 images and when people view my work theres no shortage of compliments.....

 

My point in saying all of that is this....If you go Pentax you will save a LOT of money over Nikon and Canon and can STILL come out with the exact SAME quality results and the guys who KNOW cameras and own Nikons and Canons dont argue that.....The only step up Pentax has not made is the FFS....I would say because of the FFS the Nikon D700 is a better camera then the K20D but too its a hell of a lot more....

 

K20D is rock sold...As is the *ist and i have the images to prove that....On the lens side like i said...My images were shot with a $100 18 to 55....That limits me a LOT but it in no way kept me from getting great images.....

@Haig...I was actually trying to decide between getting the lens and camera both or doing that show.Thats what the deal there was,the gear won out.

 

@Somanna....I dont know the filter package i just know it was $100,a good deal as just the polarizer is $80....Done...I will tell Jordan theres a request she wear the hat...She will be the first to wear it =) The hat was $7.00 so i figured why not and when shooting models its vital to wear backwards....

 

@Javier....I re-size the image to a low resolution...I never post high res images on the web...On the image saying it would be there with the best of them,thanks i think,not knowing what it is exactly you do...

Attached below is a new model i am managing and shooting with named Sandra...I met her at the librarey....Kind of funny when we met the second time to talk about things she brought a friend.Her friend looked through my portfolio and they both listened as i talked about getting my start in the modeling industry,what i know and my approach...At the end of my talking and explaining her friend mentioned having some shoot exp...I said oh so you have modeled...She said yes for 8 years and shes dobe some runway etc etc,for hair shows that kind of thing....And i was ooooohhhhhh wait a minute...I said your here to check me out are'nt you,make sure i'm legit for Sandra...She smiled and said pretty much and then added "you get my seal of approval".....So it was kind of nice to get her friends approval who has 8 yrs exp. in the industry and she liked my work.....

 

Attached image...New model Sandra...I was not having her work on her posing as it was her first shoot...I just wanted her to get comfortable being in front of the camera....This is one of my very last shoots with my Pentax *ist...Which i consider a good friend....Kind of sad in a way....<div></div>

The tire has no halo...Its a 4 meg file i can see it very clearly...As well i dont ever use unsharp mask...I do minimal basic adjustments to my images...But thanks for the input...Input is always good weather one agrees or not...

Halo round the tires...Thats sand on the tires....This is printed in a 12 by 18 and looks fine,Its one from the set to

get praise from a few of the pros I work with...You cant judge a image from a thumb nail you see on line or something

this small....

At the bottom of the forum page was a Pentax ad...I clicked on it and ended up at Adorama's site...

 

They have a kit,for 850 you get the K20D,spare battery,2gig SD and carrying case..So i'm gonna do that first thing in

the morning friday...The lens is still up in the air...But this kit i'm gonna get...I have thought a lot about it...Talked to a

lot of you here about it...Looked at all my options..I am also getting a Adorama ball cap and a 4 gig SD card they

have priced at 13.00

 

I think the lens i'm getting is the 16 to 50 even though i will have only minimal use for the 2.8....

 

Does anyone know,what the 16-50 lens is on the end?...I mean is it a 52mm or a 58 or what?...I am refering to the

diameter of the end of the lens...<div></div>
