  1. What hood are you using?? I use a hood # 12538 on my 50mm Summicron and a 55mm cap works on the hood when it is mounted on the lens. There is also a cap that will go on the hood when it is reversed on the lens. Can't remember offhand what the # is, but a search should turn it up, or someone else may know. The hood goes over the filter and should not be a problem.
  2. Yes it can. In the Rec. mode menu, scroll down to Multi exposure. It will let you chose the number of exposures and if you want, it will adjust the exposures to compensate. Give it a try and post some images.

I like your work so give it a try and lets see how it comes out.

Have not tried it myself, but may get around to it someday

  3. I've used ICT Camera and can say that Fred does an excellent job. He's CLA'd a M3 & M4 for me and was very happy with the results. Usually 2-3 weeks but will work with you if you need it fast.

On both the M3 and M4, he did a complete strip down and the cameras were better than new mechanically, if thats possible. Seemed like it anyway.

Sherry Krauter would be my choice if you are willing to send it out of the area. Faster than DAG and a kick to talk to. She prefers a phone call rather than email and had my M5 back in the same 2-3 week period.

  4. The diopter I use is actually an Olympus one, from the OM 1,2 4 series of cameras. It is used with the Olympus Eyecup 1 (Eyecup 2 works as well). It fits on the Pentax and has the ability to take Olympus round diopters. They are a little hard to find anymore (the diopters)but you stumble on to them from time to time. I think any of the older ones that have a rectangular eyepiece will work. I just tried an old Nikon one on the camera and it fits as well.

Pacific Rim Camera had a +2 Olympus diopter the last time I looked at there web site, so you may want to take a look.

You would need to get both the eyecup and diopter, but if the Nikon rectangular diopters fit, they are real cheap. I think B&H still carries them for about $10.

    Link to B&H

You can also get a DK-22 Nikon Eyepiece adapter and yo will be able to use Nikon's round diopters on the camera. It converts round to rectangular.

Using the DK-22 you can also use a Nikon eyecup with the round diopter. Makes a pretty cool setup for a lot less then the Olympus.

As I have been writing this, I just went through my box of old stuff and found a DK-22 adapter and +2 Diopter

Fits and works great. I'm going to look for an eyecup next (I'm an old Nikon guy and have a lot of stuff laying around)

I think I like the Nikon set-up better.

Anyway, now that you know, it should be simple to set yourself up.

  5. I'm wondering how it works myself. I'm tempted to order one, but I'm waiting for a split image screen I ordered a few days ago, before I make the move and buy one. I use only MF K mount lenses on the K10D and the results are great, but I need to put a diopter on the camera as the adjustments on the camera are not enough.

A friend of mine has a magnifier for the Nikon D200 and if the Pentax one is anything like it, it does work well. It still gives you a full screen view with glasses on, so no diopter would be needed.

  6. If it looks like it is behind the eyepiece it could be just that. The eyepiece screws out so you could remove it and clean the eyepiece and glass that is between the eyepiece and inner workings. It may solve your problem. No guarantee's but If you like the camera except for that, it's worth a shot. I found that one of my M's was like that and it was about a 10 minute fix.
  7. No, not a misprint. Luigi is now offering a basic case. Scroll down about 3/4 of the way in the Cases for Leica link on his site. They are listed @ 50 euro's. I'm not sure what that translated to anymore, but I got one @ $70 awhile ago. I just ordered one with the grip built in about 2 weeks ago, so he's still doing it. The built in grip model was $90. Both come in 3 colors. Smooth Black or Brown and a grained black.
  8. Cameraquest sells one for about $75 and so does Luigi for $70.

Luigi's is better. I Highly Recommend Luigi.

Look here for the Basic case:

No Such thing as a New $30 Leica M case anymore.

The one Cameraquest sells is a Chinese case that used to sell for $55-60 on Rangefinder forum.

If it was an M3, you will need to know if it has a Budda Ear strap lug(early)or with strap lugs like the M2-M7

  9. If the extended warranty is a Mack Warranty it is transferable. It is about $15 to do the transfer. I don't believe the Olympus warranty is transferable, but the owner can cover you until the Mack warranty kicks in. Just send it in under his name and they will return to him. You have him send it back to you. If he is a stand up guy, you should have no problems.

  10. I called them once on a Nikon camera that had a great price. It was an import and the manuals were in Russian or some other language that I did not speak. The would give a 1 year Warranty, but not by Nikon and the company they said handled it, I never heard of. Sounded like a Big Can of Worms.

Needless to say, I never bought the camera and don't look at their ad's anymore.

  11. I'd call Sherry Krauter @ Golden Touch. She's great to talk to and advise is free. She prefers to talk as opposed to email. Does excellent work and a quicker turnaround time than most.

(845)496-8834. Evenings are the best time to call.

She did an M5 and CLE for me recently and got them back in 3 weeks. Best shape they've been in since new.

  12. I use a 40 Summicron C on my Zeiss Ikon body with great results. I did have an infinity focus problem, but it was the cameras adjustment, not the lens. At infinity the patch did not line up, so adjusted it to correct the problem. Check your other lenses to see if they are all lining up properly.

I don't know that it would create soft images @ infinity, but you may want to shoot another roll to confirm that, using both the 40 C and another lens. You may just have had a little camera movement if you were shooting at a slow shutter speed. If the lens is on infinity, it is on infinity regardless of what you see in the viewfinder.

    Hope that it makes sense.
