1.
Hello Bob,
As I indicated I like all aspects... I have a prefrence to Macro photography. I guess looking at my profile would give you an idea and kind of confirm that as well.
By the way, nice photos Bob.
Thanks,
2.
Hello,
My wife has told me that for my birthday she would like to take me to B&H photo after a wonderful weekend in the city to purchase me a gift.
She has not made it to clear what the spending limits are as of yet but I honestly don't know what I should get. If I can talk her into a 50D that is what I will get but if not then I probaly will choose a lens to add to my gear but I don't know what I should get based on my current equipment. I like all types of photography especially Macro. I currently have a Canon 20D and Canon Rebel XT. I have the following equipment:
Canon 50MM 1.8
Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro
Canon 70-300 IS USM
Sigma (Bigma) 50-500MM
Tamron 19-35mm
430EX Speetlite
Battery grips for both cameras
Standard tripod
Monopod
Tamrrac expediton backpack
Any ideas/help?
Thanks,
David

 3.
Stop renting the 50 1.8 and buy as it is under $90.00.
What type of photography do you like to shoot? Maybe a macro or a zoom would increase your type of shots. I bought a 100mm macro and I couldn't believe what it did for my picture taking. I have had so much more fun since I got that Macro lens.
I also would recommend joining a local photography club (which usually cost little to nothing) You can meet new people and get ideas that way.

Good luck!

 4.
You got to try the handstrap. You can use it in conjuction with the neck strap. I have not used my neck strap since I got the hand strap. I feel like I have a much more steadier hand and control over the camera.
I got the canon model "Canon E1 - Hand strap"

Good luck,
5.
Ripoff!
Stay away!
My friend purchased from this site and was emailed to call back for confirmation of sale and was asked to purchase additional items that were very overpriced 2g SD card $99.00. When my friend would not purchase the additional items indicated, the order was cancelled by the company.
I also read reviews and saw at least 15 negative reviews like the one I just explained.
6.
reading the responses again, I would agree with David Henderson's point. I did not take the question the way he did but he does make a good point that people will judge a pro by the equipment they have as well.
I guess you can get professional quality shots from a 20D but there is something always better and more improved out there which is lways raising the bar.
Thanks,
7.
No, not to old for pro use. Obviously you will always see improvments and updates on all models but the 20D was and still is a great camera. I believe it all comes down to the photographer and how he or she uses the camera. I have the 20D and I am very satisfied with my shots. I also have a good friend that still uses her 20D for professional wedding photography. She uses it as a back up to her 5D but she always says that some of her best shos can come from either camera depending on the scenarios.
Thanks,
9.
50mm 1.8 is a nice lens for under $100.00. I was amazed at the quality of pictures and low light pictures that I could get with this lens. I should have bought this one early in to my photgraphy hobby...LOL. Maybe get this and something else.
I also have a 100MM macro which I ended up loving the most and that also doubles as a great portrait lens as well.

I also have the 70-300mm is usm and thats pretty nice as well.

Good luck and I hope you find the right lens. I can honestly say everythingthat I have bought has been the right lens at the right time depending on the need.

 11.
I have a 50 and 100 and I have to agree with Sheldon that the 50 would be fine. I also feel it's one of the best lenses for the $$. I have the 50MM 1.8 and it cost about $90.00 with tax.
Good luck with the studio work!

 12.
Only taped camera I have ever seen is on TV when the photographer does not want to show the camera logo for what I assume is reasons with the tv network/advertising etc.etc. . I cannot see taping the logo to deter theft. I think someone that would steal a camera would steal now and look at the logo later..

Thanks,

 13.
Hello Michael & Gregg,

LOL. I thought of that too. But I really want to get some honest opinions on the lens. I did try it and I was satisfied but I consider myself a novice still and need some feedback.
Thanks for your responses.
14.
Anyone have any expierence with the Sigma (Bigma) 50-500 MM lens? I have the opportunity to pick one up from a friend for about $200.00. I am looking for someone that could give me there honest opinion of the lens. I like nature and bird photography and would love to add this lens to my arsenal if it is a worthwhile purchase. I probally can get my friend down to $150.00. What do you think?

Thanks,

 15.
Hello,

I recently acquired a Canon 20D that was approx 4 or 5 years old from a friend who just upgraded to the 50D. He gave it to me for no charge. Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way to tell how many actuations on the shutter had taken place during the life of the camera. Is there some sort of odometer somewhere within the menu to tell me the amount of shots this Canon 20D body has shot over it's lifetime?
I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I have read several postings over the last few weeks that referred to actuations on the shutter and I was just curious.
Thanks for any help,
16.
My Costco membership just ran out and my wife says that a new printer or Costco membership is not in the budget. I normally would get 12x18 or 11x14 prints printed at Costco for a very minimal price. I was wondering if anyone knew of another place where I could get these photos printed without having to pay an arm and a leg or a membership fee. I only used Costco for my photos and we really do not need another membership at this time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
David

 17.
Hello,
Just a note, lens hood for 100mm is big and sturdy. I would use a filter in front if walking around, but most of my use for the 100mm is macro work and I am set up on a tripod and am very carful so the need for the filter (for protection) is not needed.

Also, the lens is very nice and I can see why you are concerned with protecting it.

Enjoy it!

Thanks,
David
