The color version is pretty, but the fact of color or monochrome wasn't what made the past post lacking, it was the loss of detail from some sort of brightening that went on during conversion. I've posted a resampling where I went for the same effect, but instead burned the midtones and highlights a little, as well as play with the Levels to bring back the detail of the dress and shirt. Not as foggy white as your version, but I felt this works.

Aestheically, this shot is just jaw-dropping beautiful! However, as a Westerner, its hard to understand the image as a stand-alone wedding shot.

You did a great job of capturing the emotion, however the effect is way too white! So much white, you lose detail, especially in the dress, as the previous poster said. For a bride, losing detail in the dress is a huge let-down. You could try a mask version of the same effect, but keep the detail in the dress while still going for this high key look.

What the pervious poster said about composition is completely true. However, you can probably salvage detail in the original photo by playing with the Levels sliders. I would try moving the middle (gray) slider to the left, bringing out a little detail in the midtones, and see if that helps. After that, you may need to play with the contrast a bit, but those are a couple easy suggestions. You could play with Curves, but if you're just learning, then curves might be too much of a hassle.

Olaf is right, the fence is a tad distracting. However, the element that is most critical would be dodging the cloud around the person's head a little to make it not blend in so much.
Those points aside, this is easily the best version of this photo. Go with this color staining effect, without a doubt! Lovely photo!

Best way to get a cat's attention for a photo, I've found, is to let out a high-pitched whistle and hold that tone for at least 3-5 seconds. They'll either run, or stare at you with their ears up. Hopefully the latter, that way you get a great shot. Cool capture, but the focus is off. Your Milo is so cute!

Thanks to the atmospheric moisture and the nice tree branches, the normally ugly city lights look fantastic! Great work. Also, the man with the umbrella seems out of place, especially since he doesn't fit the color scheme of the rest of the image. Perhaps if the dark blue were just turned black, it wouldn't feel so awkward.

Outstanding photo turned graphic design! Looks like something that would be perfect on a t-shirt or sticker or other logo item. Very cool!

Beautiful candid photo. I agree with Fred that it would be outstanding if the pets stood out from the grass. Setting your camera to green filter, or putting a green filter on, would have lightened the grass and put the focus on the animals. Or, shoot normally and in your processing software, lighten the greens and darken the yellows/reds, would have the same effect. I hope that tip helps, as it isn't contrast that's your issue, just separation of colors that have similar tonal values in monochrome.

Brilliant photo, great angle, cute dog, and most of all, awesome idea using a wide angle to express the dog's world. I really like that you managed to hide otherwise distracting bystanders with the leaves. Again, brilliant!
