I've played with the new VR macro (worked in a camera store) and I love how it

handles and the images from it, but I hear the old AF-D was a better lenses.

Though with the new one, it can also be used as a longer portrait lens.

Is the new one worth 400 USD more?

Hi all,

I'm currently photographing a classic/vintage guitar collection for a client of

mine and I need some advice on a simple, but effective lighting set up. They're

photos for his website, basic studio shots.

I shoot Nikon and have an SB-800 and SB-600. I'm considering getting 2 external

lights and shades.Thing is my background is in photojournalism and I know

virtually nothing about studio lighting.

Recommended products for this sort of work?

Nikon really needs to forget about the entry-level, the D40 and D50 are great enough. the D80 for more advanced shooter.

The 55-200 VR is pointless with the 70-300 VR out there for just a bit more and a much better lens.

Nikon needs to match Canon on the long lens side. A 400 f/4, 500 f/5.6, and 600 f/5.6
