3. Dorus wins the prize for dealing with an alarmist! It most certainly was a thingy and it was visible to the naked eye. Blew right off with little effort Thank you
  4. No problem Wouter... I'll be checking it out later and post my findings Thank you all for your input
  5. Thanks Dorus Will be looking at it later today lol Wayne Wouter. I once had Lightroom and agree it's easier to use than PS. Will look to get it again

  9.
thanks people

I was/am very upset about this. I know its part of it but I didnt expect it within less than 2 weeks of owning the camera.
I think what shocked me more is that it was visible on the display screen. I never saw that on the K100D. on pictures viewed on the computer yes but never that I noticed on the display...maybe because it was som much smaller with less resolution.

I also not very good with the photoshop stuff. I guess Ill have to get better.

Wouter, thank you I never considered the lens sucking air to be part of it.

funny thing is, I have a Olympus E-PL3. ILC micro four thirds.............change lenses all the time....no dust ever

why not on that camera but on DLSR's??

maybe I should just send back the Pentax and get an OMD

:(

that would make me sad. I have been shooting pentax for 41 years

    Dust on Sensor

I got my K50 less than 10 days ago. obviously I tested it out around the house and what not but tonight I took it on a walk with the dog and got a real nice shot of the moon ( day light) except for the damn big dust line on the picture!!
one of the reasons I back off the K10D was the constant ruined shots with dust.

admittedly its apparent that I am not good with cleaning the sensor based on my lack of success with the K100D.

I bought an Olympus E-PL3 and have never had one spec of dust on that sensor

I have this K50 for less than 2 weeks changed lenses twice---carefully because I know the risks----and now this crap again.

before coming here and crying to you guys I did a google search and it seems there was a major issue with Nikon D600 specifically.

Right now I am so disappointed in this that I feel like thats about it for me in the "amateur Photography " world

is this a major problem for you guys too and you have to take just as much time cleaning sensors as you do taking pictures or are you using software to remove the spots from your pictures.

  11.
thanks for the replies

"PS. My daughter likes photography too. But her idea of a camera is an iphone."

Ugh

As I have told my daughter about her snapping pics on an iPhone..that is not photography!

lol

  12.
last week when I was about to buy my K50 my Daughter starts talking about taking pictures, thinking about this cute "Polaroid type" camera, this that and the other thing...so knowing my K100D still has plenty of life in it and feeling like it will become a paper weight compared to the K50, I ask, would you like to try this out honey??

She did!
I slapped my 18-55 MM kit lens on it, gave her a few tips and sent her on her way....The next day she went hiking with her friends and took the camera with her.

She has a good eye and took some really good pictures.

bad news...sensor was dirty and got a few spots on some of the pictures but that can be fixed. I took the camera to a camera store and had a pro cleaning done, because I suck at it....

anyway, she dropped a calligraphy class she was thinking of taking for a digital Photography class this coming semester

:)

I'm not to bad at this photography thing but the menus and sub menus and settings of digital is a little much for me at times....maybe we can learn together. I can teach her about the art of the capture and she can show me the electronics.

oddly enough I also took Calligraphy class in HS and did well at it, would have liked to see her do that too but it is the 21 century not the 17th...lol

    SMC 50mm 1.2

Jochen

"The 50mm f2.0 you showed is a quite decent lens AFAIK"

thanks...am I missing something? the lens reads 1.2 ?? does that somehow translate to 2.0??

"If you really enjoy using a "M" lens on a crippled k-mount body"

Crippled K mount body???

Thanks Douglas that's why I asked where a good place to go to trade would be

    SMC 50mm 1.2

I have this screw mount lens with a 2X teleconverter that I have no use for. Where would be a good place to discuss a trade with a K mount manual prime? I haven't researched it yet to know if it's worth anything Any opinions?

    SMC 50mm 1.2

Going to give my original lens from my K1000 a try on my new K50 today. I hear this is a really good match given the 1.2 Is that true?

  21. Well then that settles it.... The 2000mAh original santos that I've had for the last few years are still the way to go. I'll check out the 2000 mAh Panasonic ones and their charger Thanks for the input
  22.
Thanks Peter

I passed on my K100D to my daughter. She took it out last week and took some real nice shots ( no previous experience with DSLRs) today I took it to have the sensor professionally cleaned. one think I hated about that camera. I never did a good job cleaning it. I hope this one is better

  23.
its silly but I love this filter

  24.
are Eneloops still the rechargeable battery of choice around here. I still have a few 2000mAh that have no signs of slowing down

I gave my Daughter my K100D that I just replaced with a K50 and I also got a flash. so I figured let me get a few more of these eneloops.

I see they have a pro series rated at 2550mAh but they have a 500 recharge compared to 2000 times for the 2000mAh ones currently on the market.

if any of you are using the Pro black ones, please give an opinion on them

thanks
