  1. Thank you Wouter, finally I understand. Dave, I have taken my D300s on numerous vacations, like you said the quality is excellent. My hands are small and do not have alot of strength. I would not trade it for the world, I thought the P500 would be better because I would not have to carry alot of lens with me. That backpack gets heavy when you are changing planes.
  2. I am looking for a P & S camera. I am considering a Nikon Coolpix P500 (to be released in March) the

    description has 36x wide-angle 22.5-810mm lens. I don't understand. I know I should know what this

means but I don't, if it were a lens for my D300s I would know what to buy. I love my D300s but to take on vacation its much too heavy for me to carry with all the equipment. I mostly use it with a tripod because of the weight. Could someone explain it too me in laymans terms. Thanks

  3. I use the Kenko's extensions, your 50mm will suffice as Steve as said but they work great with my 70-300 lens. I know that your budget is an issue but I found Kenko to be the best. Using them on the 70-300 was a requirement of a class that I took with Tony Sweet. The results were better than I expected.
  4. I live in PA, as Phil said you don't need a fictitious name or EIN, I use my name and SS number. You will have to file for a state tax number, thats important in PA, you can do that online http://www.etides.state.pa.us/ and also pay the tax online. It is very easy. I would talk to an accountant if you are not good with bookkeeping. I use Quickbooks for my invoices and for tax time. Good luck.
  5. In August I took pictures at a local vineyard, the owner would like to talk to me about one she would like to

use as a wine label. At first I was thrilled, now panic has set in. I sell my work in a small gallery, drop off

my work and don't deal with the general public. This would be my first contract, etc. I have no clue where

to start, what to charge and where to get a contract. She knows alot of people and this is a great opportunity

    for me. Any suggestions.

  6. I have an opportunity to photograph a vineyard & a winery. At first I was so excited, now I find myself

starting to have a melt down. This is big for me, I could get a wine label or posters for the winery from this,

    so heres my question I have a 35mm 1.1.8 G Nikon DX and a Tameron 28-80 1:3.5-5.6. I lean toward the

35mm. Which one would be the best to use or is there one that would be better. Also going to use 60mm

and 105mm for the macro for the closeup of the grapes. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

  7. After reading all the post I took my camera, the manual and took expermental pictures. They did get much better. I find the weight of the camera is also a problem, I have small hands, the D80 is a much better fit. I will be using a tripod with this lens it is 70-300mm AF is not a VR. Changing the settings worked, but I prefer to use manual. Most of all I think my attitude has to change toward this camera, it intimidates me. People tend to think when you have a camera like this you can work miracles. Not so! Its only as good as the person pushing the shutter. The camera was a gift from my husband, I don't think I would have purchased it for myself. I have it now, so I have to get use to it.
  8. I see so many post about how great D300s and the auto focus is outstanding. When I use my 35mm lens the auto focus

works good. When I use my 70-300mm AF is horrible, the pictures are all blurred, but I have tried this lens on my D80 auto

focus and the pictures are good. I prefer to use manual on both cameras but there are times when auto focus come in

handy. Am I doing something wrong, any suggestions?

  9. Thank you so much for all your help. The quiet mode is so much better. This is not as easy camera. I was use to a D80, much lighter and more user friendly. Draw back is the noise at high ISO. The weight of this camera makes it harder to hand hold, so I have to use a tripod. Its a learning process.

    Thanks again.
