1.
Hi all!
Ok, I haven't posted in a while. I've been "digging in the dirt". I have to give all of the credit for this thread to Eric, the Nikonian, but at least, this time, the pictures were taken with my K10D (by Eric's wife, Anita). In the mean time, I'm trying to reignite the pilot light. I hope to up load some new photos (first time since September) and amybe even add a new country (folder) to my gallery. It was great to see Eric and Anita again, even if for just a few beers and a couple of silly snap shots. And many thanks to the few of you I've been in touch with over the last few months, as well as those posters who have given me some much to think about, and encouragement.
So what happens when... ? Well, I'll let you figure it out...
2.
First of all, Happy New Year everybody!

Second, are there any P-net Pentaxians that live here in Indy? I think one of the admins does. Technically I "live" in Indianapolis, but I work abroad and have never really spent time here. I'm "home" for a short while longer and was wondering if anybody would like to get together Sunday evening for a little photography? Maybe dinner and/or drinks, depending on the timing and everyone's interests. My e-mail address is the same as my P-net ID at yahoo.com. (Sometimes my spam-blocker doesn't like e-mails through P-net, my appologies to anyone I who's e-mail I may not have caught.)

Anyone who might be interested, please send me an e-mail (rescheduling might be possible); it would be neat to meet in person and maybe do some shooting. I think I feel a "What Happens When..." thread coming on...

  3. If you K-mount 1.7 is the M 50mm 1.7, or if your using the aperture ring (not in A position), then you might need to that the Custom Functions to allow the shutter to release when the aperture ring is in use - see page 33 (35) and 210 of the K10D manual re: the Custom Functions menu. Another thing to check is if the camera is set to Manual Focus. This should solve the problem with the K-mount 1.7.

"I thought the old screwmounts were M lenses? Should I have said M42? Whatever... mine work even less well without an adaptor on these new fangled digital ones!"

I don't know how you could get M42 lenses to work at all without the M42/K-mount adapter.

Now this is just a shot in the dark, revealing my ignorance... What's the minimum focus distance of the lenses you're testing? I would guess it's shorter than 50cm, but I don't know that much about M42 glass.

Those are my best guesses, anyway. I have heard about M42 glass w/adapter not achieving accurate infinity focus, but nothing before about front focusing.

Good luck! I'd be interested when/if you find the answers.

  4. NO!!!!!!! I spent the money on a Sigma 10-20! I hope to have it delivered this weekend. I'll post some pics as soon as i got anything good.

I think I'll wait till they're about to announce the next big camera before I buy the K20, as tempting as it is. I want to pick up the DA* 50-135 some time in the near future, probably before a new camera, too.

    I hate you Eric! :-)

  5. Ok Mis, here ya go!

Yeah, the weather wasn't great, but it all still seemed to come together for some good photography, including what the "Canonian" was wearing. I'm pretty satisfied with a good number of my takes from last night.

Justin, thanks man. I was telling Mis that I've come across a B&W process for photoshop that I'm pretty happy with. I've made a PS action out of it. If you're interested shoot me an e-mail.
00R0ic-74453784.jpg.0c5ff08475815313e11caefafcd6ff84.jpg
