good stuff, guess i'll wait on the release

Canon just called and said that they forwarded the info I provided them about the black dots on the blown out highlights parts of the image that several users plus me complaine about, to the main tech dept and they are looking into it to see whats causing the problem and how to fix. I'll post if I know anything more.

I've had this happen to my old 50d when I would shoot rapid fire. I'd let it cool off and it would work fine. But that only happened once or twice and I've never really even read anything about it.

-

could be backfocus and most likely the lens unless you have a camera that has microadjustment I'd suggest returning your lens and going to the store with the focus chart and test 5 lenses and buy the best one with the least amount of variation.

Hey Charles I agree, but for the stock photographers out there, we've been breed to examine the pics ad the image reviewers do so we could get them accepted and have less images rejected. Banding will get an image rejected, so will excessive noise and artifacting.

-

sometimes if the images are oversaturated I'll notice this but if saturation is lowered and no sharpening is applied I havent really noticed any. I'll go home and try to replicate.

the raw is about 30mb and my email only allows like 10mb. do you have a ftp site?

I got it straight from canon. I had some problems with previous equipment so they reserved on for me.
I'm performing noise tests right now and I'll post some results shortly.

Well I got the body today and am charging it up. Noticed that when you push the shutter release button, the
button does not seem to have the click like the other canon bodies which have a small click separating the focus
push from the release push. the 5d2 is just like a smooth push.
-
looks like something to do with the blownout highlights and instead camera is converting pure white to pure black as if the highlight meter was on and a screen capture was taken displaying the highlight warning. I'm getting my 5d2 tomorrow and hope this does not happen with mine or i'll be pissed

I have it and it's just not the best lens, I had to set the camera 20 points back to compensate for backfocus and it still backfocuses slightly, focuses slow as well.

the 50d has micro lens correction. Every lens is set with tollerance to back-front focus. Learn how to use this adjustment and adjust the camera to focus correctly with each lens depending on how much each lens back or front focuses (focusing behind the intended point of focus) I've experienced this problem with my 40d where aiming at someones eyes the ears would be in focus, with to 50d this is easily fixable.

they did have me send the camera back with my 50mm 1.4. the 50mm was new but they replaced the lens barrel on it making the problem worse, so they then sent me another new 50mm 1.4 which is when i told them I had enough.
mark your getting it for 2000 quite a deal. I've seen many internet places advertising it for that much but it's a scam they will keep telling you it's on back order meanwhile they have already charged your card.
still havent gotten mine, I spoke with canon last week and they told me estimating min november. Once they have the tracking number from japan or wherever they will let me know and will ship one to me once it arrives.
I'll brag about it once I actually have it in hand.

originally bought a 40d and having issues with backfocusing. Sent it in 4 times and problem was not fixed. Spoke
with higher up individual who then replaced and new 40d body still backfocusing. The 40d does not have micro lens
adjustment. Many canon bodies and lenses have tolerances for back or front focus and if the camera is way off and
the lenses are way off the other way you will always have images that are crisp but a few inches behind the
intended focus point. So, canon offered to upgrade me for free to the 50d and I asked what it would cost for me
to get into the 5d mark 2, they said it would be the price difference between the 50d and the 5d mark II and they
promised I'd get it in hand in about 2 weeks. the 5d mark II offers in custom menu micro lens adjustments for up
to 20 lenses so if the lens is say 3 points back adjusts, the camera will compensate 3 points forward and perfect
focus right where the red lights beeps. so I'm waiting for them to call me on the 17th as promised to make the
arrangements.
I freaking cant wait!

depending on if you were to have each person sign a model release or not. If you could add all shots to your portfolio for say selling as stock you might cut a break to the client, otherwise, to shoot heads of 170 ppl.....maybe around$800, considering about 6 hours of work.

I got this for $26 plus shipping and it's excellent and 10 feet long. It has the slide lick like canon's new 580exII flash has where you slide it on and slide to lock it, it's very secure, the wire is thick and strong. It's just like the canon oe but only a different name
