Another problem transfering to digital is the scanner. Wish I had a better one.

We make due with what we have.

I am new to photo.net. I post my images here so to learn and improve my photography. I request photo rankings so that my images will get more exposure and that I might get a few comments from which I can learn.

Am I happy with the anonymous ratings? No. Even compared with the really great photographers on this site I do not believe that this image is lower than average (3/3).

I am happy that some people have taken the time to look at my images and that some good photographers like and yourself let me know what they think.

You are a great photographer and obviously very passionate about your work. No ratings or remarks should make you feel any different. If it keeps you passionate about your photographs there is some good in the bad too.

I do not think the problem is the 3/3 & 3/4 ratings. There are some images on this site that warrant lower than that (including some of mine :)). I would like people's honest opinions about images not restricted to "good" opinions.I think there are some users who just flip through images and give ratings without taking the time to really look at the images.

A solution may be that if a rating of 3 or less is given users should need to add a reason why.

That's my opinion.

Thanks for the comment. I looked at your gallery and your images are stunning. Great work! It seems your photography is more "old school" with little or no manipulation. I highly respect that.
