He's got a lens hood which has been turned backwards, and a filter bracket in his hand.

It's the same song that's been sung 1000 times before. Nobody's out to get you. You get more ratings than most people around here. This is a community of photographers, though, and many are hard to impress after looking at tens of thousands of images. I find your work largely formulaic and less than inspired. Many of your images are pretty, but they're not anything I haven't seen done before, and done with more technical skill and compositional finesse. The shots I looked at have fake-looking stars and a heavy unnatural HDR feel to them, giving the sense of more a manipulation than an actual scene. Not bad, not great, they would have ranked maybe 4-5 for initial impressions aesthetically, and maybe 4 for originality.
I do some long night exposures and sunsets myself. I don't expect anyone to jump up and down when they see them. National Geographic still hasn't heard of me. I feel lucky when 7 people take the time to rate my work, much less comment. There's no conspiracy. The simple fact is, not everyone likes your style.

I'm thinking they want you to write your own essay. Are you going to also hire someone to study and take tests for you once you're admitted to college? If so, I'd recommend a day job instead.

This was my first 'real' camera many years ago. Mine, unfortunately, took a bad spill a few years back from which it did not recover. I've still got an A1, though, and my other half does as well. A fine instrument indeed. I admit that my 20D gets more shooting time these days, but what can I say? I'm still a sucker for the quality of the FD lenses. My EF 50mm 1.8 is a sad substitute for the FD 50mm in build quality...
