1.
Hi all,
I still remenber that that I posted to leave classic RF cameras. After I have my Leica IIIB, I decided to stop collecting classic RF.But all things change like weather, so unpredictable that I am going back to classics.
I sold my Retina IIIc, which is my first classic RF, and Kiev 4 already. My Prominent still in my home. I decide to give up Leica since its body is not very user-friendly. I am planning to sell it with the uncoated elmar later. I want to get another classic RF body with LTM. Which one would you suggest?
2.
I don't think I need any more full mechanical RF now because I have some full mechanical RF already : Retina IIIc, Leica IIIB, Contax II, Kiev 4 and a Rollei 35. Some of them comes with meter but very weak response to dim condition. The Rollei 35 can response to dim light but there is no RF function.
THe reasons I need a compact RF are :
1. auto exposure function + manual override
2. RF/VF ability
3. mechanical shutter for insufficient power operation
4. small and light-weight
There are too many models and bands of these compact RF made during 1970-1980s. I really have not idea to know which one I should choose and some models are very expensive too, like Canonent.
Thank you very much for Alex's formula and explanation. It seems f/1.7 does not really much brighter than f/2. So it sems f/1.9 is a more reasonable choice.

 3.
Hi guy,
I am planning to get a compact RF for daily shooting. My target is MINOLTA HI-MATIC 7S or 9. However, I know nothing about them. What I only know is the one within 1950s.
Is the shutter of these cameras need battery?
And what's difference between f/1.7 to f/2? Is f/1.7 really much brighter than f/2 by 1 stop?
What other alternatives wil you suggest? Which model, band is much better?

Thank you.
If you are going to switch back to DSLR when you have money again in the future, I urge you to get one that can be sold and let the money back to your pocket. The price of the camera in auction sites is the reflection of how much they worth now.
If you like to play with the lenses from other bands on 1 body, Canon F-1, FTbn are the best with suitable adaptors.
M42 is also a nice suggestion. I vote it for second.
5.
US $400 is very sufficient for any types of film SLR. Since you are asking for the manual one, try Nikon F2 or FM2, and nearly all nikkor lenses won't disappoint you. Alternative selection will be Canon F-1 (either New or original) with not very expensive FD or FL lenses. You can get a lot of lenses if you prefer Canon.
RF cameras like Contax and Leica screw mount cameras are also the best alternative choice besides SLR.
