I can't disagree with the above comments and you are ahead of everyone in this genre but how about this:- a cropped lower section. My reason is, I don't think it is necessary and perhaps slightly untidy. I know you to be photographer that welcomes constructive criticism so I have made an edit of this image.

You are up there with the best of them on this site but(if I'm allowed to say) you keep repeating the same type of shot with different models. E.G. nude white background high key, nude black background low key, nude distorted with previous backgrounds with low or high key. It works fine for totally nude models but IMHO not with erotic/ glamour nudes. I think these shots need props. Either a table and or chair or curtains, just something because (I hope I'm not alone on this) these images are just far too stark. On this particular shot I agree with the previous comment about the shoes. I think the shoes are scuffed, which could have been corrected with a tiny edit. Lovely model btw.

Excellent portrait, good crisp image, background/ lighting spot on. Green cardie just so right. Apart from having a perfect body(oh good no tattoos) she has the most beautiful eyes. Really well done.

I love this image! The lighting is perfect for this type of shot. OK, so we all know what this is and it's usually seen right way up. What a great way to pose it. Should be Photo of the week.

  1. I love shots like this. The best photographs are when models are not posing to a plan. Perfectly natural to sit naked, having a cigarette and coffee and probably thinking about her next appointment or what to get her family for dinner. The overall green tone maybe could have been filtered out but it doesn't bother me too much. Lovely shot, well done.

I wonder whether if it was a good idea to have the chrome ball in the shot as it reflects the room and photographer. Still just on model/ pose excreta a good photo. Well done.

  2. I'm guessing that the Golden Couple are male and female and the(suggested) sex is simulated. On this point is there something on this site that is able to block non members viewing the nude section, because as far as I'm aware it's all open and viewable and children and people of an easily offended mind set  can see this and we wouldn't want that would we. Back to the couple, I'm not particularly fond of the pose or crop but it's an interesting gold effect. I'm kinda thinking well done but not sure....umm

Sally is a great model and although she has only 1 pose in her repertoire you have shown different camera positions and locations produce many different photographs. Well worth considering with a live model too.

Hi Jamie, what do you think, are you happy with this image? If you are pleased with the result then that is really all that matters. Is she a wife/ girlfriend? I think it lacks contrast and the inverted letter box frame isn't helping. Direct on camera flash can work but only in limited instances and here looks amateurish. It appears you are telling a story but have not given all the story. The models pose is defensive and as her face is hidden is uncomfortable too. Stick to the accepted format for a frame and use bounce flash for a more natural look. As always, this is only my opinion.

The master pulls it off again! Oops.... that sounds a bit rude. Wonderful image that I can't fault. Great use of props and image control. Oh and the model ain't half bad either. Translation for non English speakers: The young lady is very beautiful.

  3. Fantastic image once again John! Watched the video, great. I'm wondering what she is attempting to do, push the wall over or fit into the window? Is it taken on a Greek island, in one of those abandoned villages or possibly a Spanish ruin? Looks very Mediterranean. Never mind, it fits together well. That girl has beautiful skin btw. Thanks for leading the way on how to take nudes. Happy New Year!

Lovely nude, well lit with a warm feeling, nice pose. Magnificent bush! In fact without that hair I think it would be a fairly ordinary shot.

    Great image, well done!

  4. So many comments, I didn't have time to read them all. A confident young woman(model) relaxed in posing as directed. The 'shock' of an exposed vulva doesn't work any more and good too!

The photograph: I don't why you cropped the feet off, to me it seems the wrong place to do the crop, also a little more contrast (for me) would have been better. I love the 'odd' angle, I think any facial expression other than the one adopted would have completely changed the meaning of the image. Good work, well done!

I'm with you Gerry. I find the inclusion of a 'bit' of material unnecessary. Maybe if it were 'her' clothes or something that identifies with the overall image but as it is my eye wanders over to that area taking it away from the main object, the model. The only other thing, and it is nit picking is the slightly creased background paper. Great image 'cept for the above.

Well done. Your model is great for this type of nude study. What I don't like or what I like the least is: the white chair and clothing draped over it and the other object(what is it, a coffin, is she a vampire?) it's quite distracting and she is too close to the background. Nice tones.

  5. I like the pose and she's a good art class model(loads of flesh). I have no idea what your art show rules are, does it allow digital(if that what it is) editing. If it were a pencil/ charcoal drawing it would be an excellent example of draughtsmanship. As it is a photograph that's been altered to look like a drawing. I feel it is a bit of a cheat, unless of course it's made obvious what it is and not a drawing. In the early days of photography artists used photographic images as a memory aid and to copy poses, this to me looks like it came from that era when, lenses and film weren't that good and therefore things were a little fuzzy. It's up to you and the competition rules.

  6. As always from you, a great shot and superbly organised. I'm afraid I did have a chuckle at the clowns all to obvious excitement sticking out of his trousers. No wonder he's a happy clown. There must be some deeper meaning that I've missed.

A beautiful model, lovely smile, reminds me of a model I used to know(RoseWood). It would have been nice if she painted her nails in that red too. A great shot Jim, although not not into your extreme angles and wide lens stuff it is competently executed.
