    Spider

          7
We have these spiders in East Texas, call them Halloween spiders since they seem to come out close to Halloween. Nice capture.
  1. While I was out shooting lightning one night this Spring, one bolt in

particular struck too close for comfort, and although I was shaken I

was also ecstatic that I had captured the strike on film. To give you

an idea how close this bolt was, the focal length of the lens setting

was close to 28mm wide angle. My guess the strike was within a

hundred yards. Exposure was 15 seconds at F-8. Camera: Canon Pro-1

    ASA 50.

  2. I shot this a few nights ago when a line of summer storms approached

the he city (I am an avid storm photographer) and was surprised to

find at one of of my favorite viewing spots, a field of Texas

sunflowers. Exposure was 15 seconds, wide open. I used a flashlight to

light the sunflowers in the foreground. I color corrected the image

in PhotoShop CS to make the image look more natural (a mix of

artificial light coming from street lamps tinged the sky pink) and I

burned and dodged the entire image to help highlight the contrast in

the roll cloud and sunflowers. Weapon of choice is a Canon Pro-1.

  3. Love the composition, lighting and the subject. Looks like a great illustration for a mystery novel cover .

It does look like a composite photo though. Notice how the light strikes the crow on the left but the trees in the background are lit from the right.

Photoshop is my darkroom and if a photo can be improved by manipulating it, , go for it!

    Very nice!
