My swap partition got a workout on this one! The full-size .xcf is
over 4000 x 10000 pixels. The sky is composite. Does it look fake?
-
Here's a good example using a depth map.
-
Nifty. I've been wanting to try miniature faking, but I don't have any good photos to do it with. Guess I need to get out and shoot some! Have you considered miniature faking this with a depth map? I think it's an ideal image for it.

of your many magnificent photos, this stands out as one of my favorites. the inclusion of the bison is what really makes it, even though the scenery might be more interesting in some of the others.
i'm curious about the fact that you seem to have settled on a limited number of aspect ratios for your panoramas. i'd guess it has something to do with your intentions for printing them, but why those ratios in particular?

Fascinating subject and perfect composition. I love photos that capture the essence of interior spaces.

How much does the slight asymmetry detract from this image? It's
glaringly obvious to me, but of course we always see the flaws in our
own work. I'm about 1800 miles away from the location, so
unfortunately I can't just re-shoot it...

Think I should crop the left side?
-
...and my friend just caught the no navel bit. Very interesting (lack of) detail.

I don't know how much imitation there is in this flattery, but regardless, it's very well executed.

Scanned from a print? I'd take it back and ask them to redo it without the dust.

Whoa...
-
Try a square crop of the top portion.
Nice pic!

And still of a winter's night, they say, when the wind is in the trees,
When the moon is a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
When the road is a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
A highwayman comes riding –
Riding – riding –
A highwayman comes riding, up to the old inn-door.
– Alfred Noyes

What was the original media for this, film or digital? If digital, you might be able to play around with the levels a bit and create the appearance of more contrast in the sky. If film, you're better off; you could have a good scan made and probably recover a little more detail from the highlights.

I like the photo, but it appears to have a definite magenta cast. Was that intentional?
-
This shot is fabulous. I love the contrasting colors.
-
With a scan that large, you ought to be able to find a variety of more interesting compositions within this photo.

Excellent.

I like this one better than one shot from a higher perspective. The interesting similarity between the smokestacks and pier pylons is more apparent in this version.

Are you a Heinlein fan?

This is my first attempt at faking tilt-shift and shallow DOF to
create the illusion of a miniature scene. I used GIMP and Kyoichiro
Suda's focus blur plugin.
