I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Visual Communication and would like to
make a career transition to photography. I am an amateur, but would like to
independently learn from scratch and build a portfolio to submit to graduate
schools.
I am interested in studying in New York or anywhere in Europe as long as the
program teaches in English. Will anyone recommend a good graduate school?
What portfolio tips can you give me for the entrance exam?
Thank you.

What is the difference between Portra UC and VC?

Ok, so I found out more about the charity venue and most of the activities will be done outside in sunlight / a bit of cloud at certain times (it's been kind of rainy these days).
Unfortunately, I cannot go there in advance to test out the shots because it is 3 hours away from where I am and I will be shooting in a village where I can guarantee that there are no professional labs around.
Fuji 400 Pro H seems to be the favorable film and I've called up a bunch of film retailers in town an they are out of stock. I did manage to find one store that sells FUJICOLOR PRO 800 H. Should I go for this and overexpose (how many stops?) to eliminate the grain?
I won't be using flash.
Thanks everyone.

What are transparency films mainly used for? What are it's advantages over color
negative films?

Thanks for all your responses.
I will be shooting with an Olympus OM 2000 Spot Metering. Fairly old and not in the market anymore. Plus, I don't own a flash. The lens is Olympus OM-System S Zuiko Auto-zoom 35~70 mm 1:3,5~4,8. Is this considered as a standard lens?
With an 800 ISO, won't the pictures come out grainy if taken under sunlight?

I have a basic 35mm SLR - not digital.
I'm planning to take a trip to a charity event.
I will be shooting indoors and outdoors (sunlight/a bit cloudy sometimes).
What film do you recommend that I shoot with? I tried using a slide film before,
but the photos came out a bit too magentaish.
Should I stick with slide or negative?
Thanks.
