Some repair costs for similar cameras at http://www.essexcamera.com/index.php
are listed below--
PETRI
FT: STANDARD REPAIR 110.00,
FT 1000: STANDARD REPAIR 110.00,
FT EE: STANDARD REPAIR 130.00,
FT II: STANDARD REPAIR 110.00,
The above estimates are based on the average repair costs, including the minor parts cost less than $10. After receiving your equipment, we will give you a written estimate that most likely will be the same as the above. In addition, an $8 shipping and handling charge will be applied.
The workmanship and materials are guaranteed to be free from defects for six months after repair under normal use.

I reckon you can use an SD card reader to get the pictures into your Mac--could it be you just can't use the Canon software with the Mac? You don't really need the Canon software if there is photo software built into your computer, or if you get another program to use.

Hanimex is a marketing outfit that has branded a lot of different third party equipment. They marketed a lot of M42 screw mount and K mount lenses in the past. I can't remember them doing much Canon stuff. Fujica SLRs were produced in screw mount and their own bayonet mount. You would probably have to get a screw mount to Canon adapter. If the lens is Fuji bayonet, you might be outta luck.

Thanks for posting--forgetting the Praktica for a moment, the excellence of the photographer is the key no matter what the tool and these are some truly lovely photos. Great portfolio in general.
As for the Prakticas and the East German lenses, great vehicles for the photographer on a budget through the years. Certainly nothing better for close focusing at the price.

I highly recommend the Canon Powershot "A" series. We have the A70 I bought new, an A70 I bought used for about $100 and a newer, smaller A530 that I recently bought for $160.

These cameras take AA batteries you can find anywhere and yield fantastic shots when kept in the auto mode, meaning they would be great for parties.<div></div>

Well it is a photo :)
Nice clock.

I imagine the SL35 and SL350 were of much better quality than the SL35M and SL35ME. Love the Rollei lenses. I have never had any luck with the cameras. My SL35M jammed--are the film advance gears plastic? The ME I have has a dead meter, lower speeds are useless that way. The ones shown dissected here are probably tanks compared to the models that followed :).

Mpix.com does a good job on 35 mm color negative print film and digital. They send you mailers for the film, or you can easily upload digital images online.
My local Walmart (Woodstock, VA) is part of the global plan to put an end to film use once and for all. Results may vary, but apparently not too much from what you say.

smooth--lucky you!

If it is the model profiled here:
http://cameraquest.com/canql17.htm
it is probably worth more than some of the other models, although you aren't going to retire off the sale. Helps if it is in good condition and working.
Are you interested in using it or selling?

Maybe its an early version of the Yashica Minister series that were made in Hong Kong?

Canon once allowed resellers to brand their cameras just like Prakticas and Topcons were branded by Hanimex.
It is the same camera.
