Glad you enjoyed it. They're beautiful birds, especially the (enormous!) fluffy white chicks. I did turn up the color saturation a little, but not much. The intense colors in the adult's beak are from the sunlight coming through. The scene was lit by reddish light coming from a beautiful sunset to the left.

Hi, Piotr. I have some other tonemappings of this same image that are realistic, but I quite liked the look of this one. Yes, it's over-the-top and artificial, especially with the heavily boosted saturation, but I like it.
Thanks for looking, and for your comment, even if I disagree :)

Thanks for the compliment. The equipment is listed in the details, as well as the shooting parameters. I used a Canon 350D with an inexpensive Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens at 180mm. The birds weren't shy at all and allowed me to walk within a few feet of them for this closeup.

I agree, the back of the front flower being out of focus is distracting.

I suppose it depends what you mean by "Photoshop work". According to the photo.net definition of "unmanipulated", this is unmanipulated. During the conversion from RAW, I stepped the exposure down a couple of stops, and I chose a conversion to B&W that retained detail in the clouds, which also happened to retain detail in the grass. It would look better if the grass detail were burned out, but I was interested in getting reactions to this version.
The figures at the base of the tree are cows. I thought there was enough detail in the silhouette to make that out, but apparently not.
