I have a Mamiya 7 with 43, 80, and 150mm lenses. Each has a central witness
mark, and IR witness mark or dot. Then there are white stripes on each side of
the main witness mark numbered for each aperture value. How do those work? I
usually just eye focus.

Try googling for a website called mediajoy. It's in Japan, and they may have something on line. I had one of those, and loved the format also. I now have a Mamiya 7. I just sold the Fujica on ebay, because I wanted to carry the camera body and three lenses with out having big weight. The metal Fujica is not a fluff.

Maybe a mod saw it as a classified (wanted to buy) ad. The asking for advice could go here, but I think the wanted part has to go seperately in classifieds.

I work in the movie business. Tungsten balanced 35mm is a matter of daily routine here, not an occasional studio film. Maybe that's also why I can't understand some people's aversion to continuous lighting.
-
What tungsten films are available in 120 roll format now? Local store doesn't
seem to have many, I like using hotlights.
-
Probably I will try a B+W 092 (89B) grade filter and expose as ASA 50.
We'll see how that works.

Well for me its going in a Mamiya 7. Which is a rangefiner, so I could use a Hoya R72 no problem. I just don't want to blot out most of its sensitivity with overkill. I wonder how many stops an R72 would cost me. It's 400 with no filter they say. Maybe I should ask some one at Rollei.
-
Any one shot the Rollei IR film and have examples? I'd love to see a few. I
just ordered a box from Freestyle in L.A. They said it was more like expanded
red than Infrared. But I can't shoot HIE because they don't make it in 120
anymore. I may just try using a 25a or a 29 instead of a true IR filter on the
Rollei. Rollei told me the film was made by Mahn.

It seems video and still cameras at the consumer end are merging. Consumer
still cameras have video modes, which have progressed from 30 sec clips of
320x240 at 15fps to the upcoming 16:9 848x480 size, 30fps rate, 2GB limit of
the FZ50 announced last month by Panasonic. The video cameras have gone from
having still modes which take 640x480 frame caps to taking 4 or 5 MP stills and
having an on board flash. I wonder when these two technologies will converge
fully? Maybe at some point a few years off, we'll see a hybrid camera which
takes 8 or 10 MP stills with manual control, and shoots 1080 line HD video at
30FPS to a large onboard HDD. Has any one shot much with one of the present
hybrids?

I just got 38 scans of slide film back from the lab. They were done with a Kodak
HR500. They are all sharp and look good, except they have an extremely yellow
caste, which ruins them. After paying 7 bucks Can. per scan, I don't feel I
should have to sit at my computer for hours trying to fix them. Besides then
they're not really "good scans" as much as "salvages". So, before I e-mail the
lab and send web-sized examples, does any one know what could cause this? The
film looks fine, and my flatbed scans don't look like that. It's Velvia 50 and
100 slide film shot in daylight.
-
The 16:9 video mode matters to me. I doubt it will have stereo sound, but it would be nice.
-
Yes I know about the "baby" modes. Yes it's stupid, but no one is obligated to use them. I see the camera for what is is. It won't be as good as many kits that cost far more. The point is it might make a great all around carry camera for me. If I want huge res, I have a Mamiya 7.
-
I went to buy an FZ30 a couple of weeks ago, and nothin' was there.
Discontinued. Then they said the FZ50 was coming in "a couple of weeks". A few
days later it was announced. I'm going to New Zealand the first three weeks of
October, I'm hoping to see one in person before then. I think its the
combination of super long zoom, IS, RAW files, and 16:9 movie mode that ties it
up for me. Apart from the Canon superzooms, is there anything else comparible?

What's your favourite slide stock(s) for skin tones? Just collecting ideas.
Shooting 6x7.
-
Are there the same frame lines available in the first gen M7 viewfinder? 65mm, 80mm, 150mm?
-
What changed between these two models? Is there a way to search photo.net for
photos taken specifically with these cameras? If no, could you link some shots
or galleries?
-
I started dividing my work into three categories. 1)Don't bother to scan - film archive only, 2)scan on flatbed at home for free, and 3)send to lab for pro scan. My flatbeds are adequate, but I wouldn't use them for huge prints. I'll pay the few bucks and get the good stuff drum scanned.

I'm going to get an APS-C sized DSLR such as a Canon 20D etc. but don't want to
spend the $1200 bucks on an L series zoom. At least not yet. I do however,
really want a continuous maximum aperture. Wide to midrange to start. Prefer 2.8
Recommendations?

I'm just curious if any one ignores the hardware/software methods and does it
all by hand. I made 6x9 cm scan at 4800 dpi last night. My scanner, an Epson
4870 Pro will not allow Digital ICE at Hi Res. The limit seems to be a meager
1200dpi. So instead, I took three hours, and did the work by hand. At 72dpi,
the scan is soft, but at 300 dpi print res. it's tack sharp and something like
35x50 inches. I guess by the time I'm making a print that large and expensive
there's something to be said for doing it personally and knowing I'm satisfied
with the results. How does every one else do work that large?

Perhaps W stands for wide - 90mm, and SW for super wide - 65. I have the latest (late 70s?) interchangeable, the GL690. I really enjoy it so far, the first slide rolls I got back were awesome. Check for the differences between versions like body style, maximum aperture etc. Perhaps the first versions were metal. They look like mine. Also, there is something about long exposure issues with those. You have to do some trick. Not on the old interchangeables. Mine has B. Go on ebay and check up on Fujis in medium format. Look for different variations there too.
-
Sweet!! That will come in handy.
-
I have this lens on a GL690. On the lens barrel where the focus marks are - just
right of the centre mark - is an "R". It's in red. Is this an infrared mark?
