    Claude, Kayley, Daniele- thank you!

Dror- thank you! That part about order is very interesting! I wrote an answer under your image '\ /'.

    Warm regards, Stanislav

P.S. regarding your comment about Kahn and order- it is very interesting! I guess 'order' has as much to do with psychology as with mathematics or architecture...

To find out what intrinsic properties of images are important seems to be a very interesting quest. In that respect, the paintings of the Russian avant-garde but also Picasso and others are very impressing. Some of those pictures consist of nothing but forms, and yet the impact on the viewer can be icredibly strong.

Again, thank you for the great discussions!

    Warm regards, Stanislav

    Dror,

I was just going to write a comment when I read your thoughts.

What I gues does not work for me here is the overall interplay of forms, or more precisely the lack of it. The right lower part has no structure and there is nothing that counterweights this large empty and homogenic space. The lines in the rest of the image also somehow don't add up to something 'stable'.

I like your idea though, and also some elements of the image like the light defining the edge of the leaf that you meintioned and also the form/interplay of light in the very left part.

How is your progress on v3? :-))

    Dror,

this is great! Wonderful texture on the petals and leaf in the left part of the image. The brighter part in the right lower corner gives right what is needed to balance the rest. An finally the contrast between the dark diagonal and the white petals... I like this one a lot!

Amey- thank you for your kind words and rating!

Dror- thank you for your comment. After taking a couple of looks at the image I think you are right- the left part is a bit too dark. I'll upload another version soon.

It's funny that you mention a cosmic event. For some reason, this image somehow reminded me of thi film 'Alien' although I can't tell why.

    Dror,

hope I'm note to annoying with my nitpicking. ;-))

I have googled images of Khan's buildings. Some really impressive arcitechture, the interplay of lines and shapes looks great. I especially liked the Exeter Library, the Institute of Public Administration and the National Assembly in Dacca. It must be great to stand in one of those buildings. Did you take any photos of Exeter Library when you were there?

For me, Mario Botta will be the next one to google.

    Dror,

what I really like here are the graphical patterns on the surface of the petals. The color transition from pink to velvet also works great for me.

However, for my taste, there is not enough structure in the darker area in the middle(up-down wise) right part of the photo. Perhaps I would consider cropping a bit from the right in order to make this image part less dominant.

Alltogether, I think it is a very interesting picture, but not perfect. Just my 2 ct though.

Radu, Diana, Anne and Runar, Joanie- thank you, i'm glad you liked it!

Paul- thanks! I agree, winter is a great time to take pictures when there is snow!

Trisha- thaks you for commenting! I took a couple of pictures from this position with different people walking by because I liked the tunnel-like view. But the fact that there was someone in a red coat without pther people in the way was luck. :-)

Ed hazera- thanks! I tried different crops, but in the end i decided to include more of the surroundings. But I agree that a tighter crop would also have worked well.

So sad and poetic... The beginning of a journey from the cheerful company to the cold blue unknown.... My sincere compliments!

Vardan- thanks for your comment and thoughts! I appretiate it very much.

This image was intended to be abstract. Actually, in the original version there is some ground, but it just doesn't look good to me. I do agree that the tree on the left is a bit too prominent. On the other hand, it adds a strong point of interest and somehow makes the deeper. i'll try out your suggestion with the crop!

    Dror- thanks!

    Dror,

concerning circles and void I remember a certain image of yours with a void circular space in the middle, "Sunny side 1". That one had (and still has) a great impact on me.

Is there any page on the internet that you would recommend to get an impression of the work of those two architects? I also will google their names...

Anyway, that's what I love about the discussions with you- there always is a lot to learn.

    Warm regards, Stanislav

    Subhra- thanks!

Anne, Runar- thank you for your thoughts! In version one, I like the overall placement of elements in the frame a bit better. But alltogether, I think the trees are what makes this photograph, at least for me.

I enjoyed looking at your photos when I had a free minute, but had no opportunity to comment.

Dror, as a mathematician I also like squares a lot. Although from a mathematical point of view a circle is even more intriguing, it somehow doesn't seem to be a good option for cropping an image. :-))

    Dror,

I think your idea behind this image is quite interesting. For my taste, the cotrast between foreground and background is a bit too pronounced, and the transition too sudden. The part of flower that has stonger colours seems to come from the background too abruptly and that is what looks a bit artificial for me. Perhaps something between v1 and this version would work better, or some desaturation on the darker part of the flower that is a bit out of focus. Just some thoughts. ;-))

    Warm regards, Stanislav
