1.
An update from my previous response. On our last visit to Black point Wildlife drive we were within 20 feet of Roseate Spoonbills however, during a visit to Black Point today, my wife and I, discovered that the spoonbills have moved about an 1/8 of a mile from the road - too far to get great photographs. The spoonbills seem to stay in a group about 1/2 to 3/4 of the distance around the loop drive - a west to northwest direction.

 2.
In response to your question, it's been a couple years since my wife and I, have visited the places you mentioned on/near the west coast of Florida but the last time we were there we saw lots of Roseate Spoonbills. We live near (15 miles) the Kennedy Space center/Blackpoint Wildlife Drive and go there a few times a month. It's a little early (March) however, we saw about a dozen Roseate Spoonbills about a week ago at Blackpoint (accessed via Titusville). Another good location north is Stick Marsh in Fellsmere. Happy hunting.

 3.
Jeff, thanks for the thought. I didn't think it was possible to contact Adobe by telephone? Don't have their telephone number or any way to contact them. The last time I tried their phone had been disconnected.

 4.
I have been using CS6 ever since it became available (one time purchase). Several times a year (for several years) I have been getting a trial offer for CS6 EXTENDED. The trial offer prevents me from working on new photo's - the trial offer CANNOT be deleted. I have to wait until Adobe decides to remove/cancel their advertisement before I have access to any of my unprocessed pictures! (In the past I purchased and used CS3 EXTENDED). I hope this clarification is helpful. Thanks for your response.

 5.
(Not sure about the category). I keep getting a trial offer from Adobe for CS6 Extended which prevents me from processing my pictures (in CS6) - can't get rid of the offer to continue processing pictures. I have been getting this same problem for about a year of more. I don't want my processing held hostage to the trial offer. After a week or two the offer goes away and I can gain access to my pictures for processing until the "offer" returns. I'm sure I'm not the only one having this problem with Adobe's sales offer. Any help would be appreciated.

 6.
We have been in The Netherlands for about a week and will go to Amsterdam tomorrow. Getting to the subject, I have discovered that I should have left my wide angle lens (15-30mm f/2.8) at home and brought my Canon 16-35 f/2.8 lens but, probably would not have used it very much. The 15-30 mm lens is too wide for most purposes. I have been using my Canon 24-105mm lens for almost all pictures taken. In town, my wife has been using her Canon 18-135 (factor 1.6) for her shots and her Canon 100-400mm lens from the ship.
(Live and learn).

 7.
Jochen, Thanks for the heads up on pick pockets. My wife usually carries her $20.00 dollar backpack with a lens and camera in her hand and maybe a backpack. I usually carry a camera in my hand and another lens and camera in my backpack (a Walmart purchased 12 pack cooler backpack costing around $6.00 dollars - I like the blue color). As for pickpockets, there isn't much you can do against a real pro (a razor blade across the back pocket takes 2-3 seconds). As for the high cost of meals are choices are: pay a higher price in the city, pay a little less in the surrounding areas, or go back to the ship and eat for free (no extra cost). Anyway, that's life, just be aware of your surroundings. Thanks for the heads up.

 8.
First, thank you all for your comments. (I needed and look forward to receiving different opinions).
After a lengthy discussion concerning whether to take the 100-400mm lens the results are my wife will be taking the lens. We will be traveling via the ship Vantage MS River Splendor and a travel guide and transportation to various sites (tulips etc.) will be provided in The Netherlands and in Belgium - sites other than just cities and tulips (14 day cruise).
We plan to carry only one camera and lens each and keep the other camera's and lenses in a backpack. Is that safe at night in Amsterdam?
Again, thanks for your comments.

 9.
My wife and I, will be in Amsterdam next week wanting to photograph the city and then, the tulips. We will both be taking two lenses each. My two lenses will be the Canon 24-105 F/4 and a 15-30mm lens. My wife will take her 100-400mm and 18-135mm lens. I will be using both full frame and the 7D mk.2 with a 1.6 factor. My wife will use her Canon 7D mk. 1 and mk.2 camera's.
I have never been in The Netherlands except going to and from the airport and once in hurricane force winds - never taken pictures there. What lenses would you recommend for taking pictures in the city and tulip fields? Thanks for your recommendations.

 10.
For editing software, there are many that are very good at little to no cost. My wife has access to many of the Adobe products (Lightroom, etc. ) however, she likes and uses "Fastone" software. You may want to investigate if you like the idea of no cost software.

 11.
First, thank you for your responses. Dan, I performed the Power Reset and Settings Reset procedures as listed and was not successful in updating the camera's firmware - I'm now back to version 1.0.2. I will try to reinstall the previous firmware versions and then attempt installation of version 1.0.5.( I'm not sure there is a need to reinstall previous version if I can install version 1.0.5). Thanks for your attempt to help; I'll get back with you when I can get a successful version update installation?

 12.
Firmware update version 105 for the EOS 7D mark 2 camera is supposed to provide a "fix" for the Canon 16-35mm series 1 lens which I have (but rarely use). I'm currently having trouble installing the firmware update even though I downloaded the firmware update on to my SDXC card and attempted the installation per Canon's instructions? The software installation on to the SDXC card has been verified. Next, I installed the card into the camera, set the camera to the number 2 setting for SDXC, moved to the firmware site and depressed the SET button to select "OK". The results is nothing changes, the current (old) firmware issue of 103 continues to be shown? I welcome any suggestions that will lead to a successful firmware installation. Thanks for your help. (Not sure if this is the correct forum - canon or Misc.)?

 13.
I should have listened when I asked which lenses to take on the subject trip. My wife and I, are back from our 15 day European trip by ship along the Danube and Rhine rivers - Germany and five other countries. On the subject of which lens to take: my 300mm and my wife's 100-400mm stayed in our rooms safe the entire trip while aboard ship. She used her 18-135mm lens and I used my 24-105mm lens the entire trip. I carried (in a backpack) my new (heavy) Tamron 15-30mm lens but don't ever remember taking it out of the backpack. Again, I should have listened. Next time I'll take my 70-200mm as was recommended.

 14.
(You may want to look for my earlier post on this subject - some time last year or early this year). I partially disasembled my 500mm f/4 lens because there was movement/looseness in the housing. Starting with the exterior collar, I removed the collar (6 each screws) which allowed access to the internal mechanisms - the scary part. I discovers 3 each screws that were all loose. The screws are used for lens alignment so you want to be very careful you don't rotate the internal portion of the lens. If the screws are loose, tighten the screws and reasamble the lens. Problem solved. Again, I recommend you find my original post because I may have forgotten something important. (I'm used to problem solving but, you may not want to take chances into the unknown).

 15.
Thank you all for your comments;I will look around locally for a memory card reader that reads both CF and SDXC. If I can't find the subject card locally I will buy on-line - Craig, Edward and William, thanks for the link/WEB sites.

 16.
My recent purchase of a new laptop has solved the problem of downloading my SDXC memory cards to my laptop computer. However, I now want to be able to attach and download my camera's (Canon 5D III) compact flash (CF) memory cards to my laptop. Is there a device that will allow me to attach my CF memory cards to the laptops USB-2 or USB-3 ports? Thanks for your suggestions.

 17.
David. I plan to take my 300mm lens to take pictures from the boat/ship (only) while under way - sights along the river.
Thanks to you all for your recommendations.

 18.
I ordered the Digigear SDXC to CF memory card and put it in my Epson P-2000 card reader. After several attempts to get the card to work (card reader error message said there was nothing installed), I sent the card back for a refund (minus shipping cost).

 19.
Gentlemen, I misspoke by saying transfer my SDXC memory to CF (instead of the SD) slot on the Epson P-2000. However, if it's possible to use the CF slot with the SDXC memory card that's OK. Richard, thanks for the WEB site listings. I will try one of the products listed.

 20.
(Not sure this is the right forum for this subject). My camera's accept CF and SDXC memory cards but I only use SDXC memory cards. (I have and could use the CF card but prefer to use only SDXC memory cards). I have the P-2000 storage viewer which accepts CF and SD memory cards. Is it possible to use some type of device (card reader) that can be used to transfer pictures taken on my camera's SDXC cards to the CF slot on the reader/viewer? Thanks for your help.

 21.
Gentlemen (Bob and Colin), thanks for your suggestions, I'm sure they will be very helpful.
It looks like I will have to consider taking additional equipment. My purpose was to limit the amount of weight I have to carry around when ashore and I didn't consider shooting from the boat. Based on your comments I will probably take (in addition to what I mentioned) my Canon 7D mk 2 (in case of a problem with my 5D mk 3) and one or two additional lenses such as my 300mm/400mm/70-200mm - probably only one of the three mentioned. I'm not sure which lens would be the best for shooting from the boat but, my favorite is the 300mm?
Bob: * I'll be taking a polarizing filter for each lens I use. *I'm sure my wife will be using her 100-400mm from the boat so will use the longest lens I decide to take (?). * I may take my mono pod (I've never used) for shots from the boat or use one leg of my wife's small tripod .
Again, thank you both for your recommendations.

 22.
My wife and I, will be taking a 15 day (Viking) river cruise (6 countries) on the Rhine and Danube rivers in early July- our first European cruise. I'm not sure what photo equipment to take but I like to travel light - walking not carrying much photo equipment. My wife plans to take one Canon camera (7D mk 2) and two lenses (18-135mm) and 100-400mm mk 2.
I'll be expected to carry a small back pack with (probably) my Canon 5D mk 3 with two lenses the 16-35mm and 24-105mm and a small tripod - I have other camera/lenses but don't want to carry the weight. (We are typically birders with long lenses).
I welcome any comments or suggestions on equipment, clothing, etc. Thanks for your help.

 23.
"I find that they all require you to be in front of the lens."
Roger, I'm glad I seen your post because I don't remember testing my Canon RC-6 wireless remote controller from behind the camera. So, I performed a test using the subject controller and my two cameras. The results were a little strange. Using the remote behind both cameras the shutter was activated when the remote was 9 feet behind my 5D mk III and at approximately 4 1/2 feet behind my 7D mk II. (Just a quick test - not scientific: no battery replacement since I purchased the controller in July 2012). You will have to draw your own conclusions.

 24.
Thanks Bob, I'll be waiting for your review/response.

 25.
You can find/see the subject lens advertised on this site and others. Has any one purchased this lens?
If so, can you provide your opinion on the technical merits of the lens? I'm considering a replacement for my Canon 16-35mm F/2.8 (series I) lens. Thanks for your help.
