  1. I have a K1000 and recently took it to the camera shop to have the shutter

speeds tested. They were over exposing on 1/1000 and 1/500. The guy said that

it wasn't worth it to have it fixed and to get another one.

I am wondering how hard it is to fix at home? I have taken it apart for oiling

    and cleaning and MINOR repairs.

  2. I started looking at tripods, and found some very sturdy legs (slik 700dx) for $100.00. I bought a brand new Bogen ball head (3026) for $38.00, and now when I put my 500mm lens on, there is not a bit of shake.

    Thanks for the Information.

  3. I have a 3026 Bogen ball head. I just bought it brandnew, and it is very stiff

and squeeks when I turn it.

When I start to move it from a position, it jumps, and with a long lens, that

is very frustrating! Is there some kind of lubercant that I can use? A friend

    sugested using graphite.

  4. I do alot of backpacking and I carry a pentax LX. I use ND filters as well, and they work very good with the LX. On the 'auto' mode, the camera leaves the shutter open until enough light has reached the film. Also, on auto, it reads the dsx coding on the film cartrage. So, it always has the perfect exposure on automatic. (as long as the lighting is not weird)

The camera is very small (it's the size of my hand!) and is not very heavy, although add 4 or 5 lenses, and it does get heavy with all that glass!

    Hope this helps.

  5. I bought a cheap tripod from a store, and when I put my 500mm lens on it, it

shook so bad I couldn't take a good picture. What kind of tripod do I need to

take a good picture with a 500mm or more?

    Thanks

  6. When I was 13, I got a Pentax K-1000. About 2 years later, I bought a second one. Now, 4 years later, I have my original k1000, and a LX. The k1000 is a very sturdy camera and still looks good and nothing broken after 2 drops. The LX is also sturdy, but only half as sturdy as the k1000. Also, You hear about this substitute metering and all. well, with the k1000 you just point, focus, and shoot, and most the time it comes out perfect.
  7. Thanks for the information. I think I'll hang onto my LX for a few more years. It is a really good camera!

By the way, does anyone know the tempeture range of the LX?

  8. I am using a pentax LX, and thinking about trading it in for a Pentax *ist FILM

camera. How good are these cameras compared to the LX, and will the KA mount

lenses that I'm using work with this camera?

    Thanks for your help

  9. I would like to start developing my own E-6 slide film at home. I know very

little about this sort of thing, so anything would be helpful. I don't have the

money to buy anything real expensive($150 and below). But I can afford the

basics, fom what I've seen at B&H, and at the photo store.

I have about 3-5 36exp. rolls per week, so I am thinking that it would be

    cheeper to develop it myself.

    Thanks
