  1. Jason. Try photographing an older Porsche. They are much more interesting to shoot. (See my portfolio for examples of pictures of older Porsches).

As for this picture Jason, I think that by moving the car outside might have given you better lighting.

  2. Keith,

nice composition which could work very well. Unfortunately, the image looks a tad on the dark side to me. Also, despite using a shutter speed fast enough to freeze the spokes on the wheels, there is still some movement evident. More panning practise? Of course, I realise these bikes aren't exactly going slowly, but that's all the more reason for accurate panning. Hope this is of use to you.

    Mark.

Juha, I believe the 1DS (and mark II) is the best choice for my photography, as they give the best resolution from a 35mm style camera, and consequently the bigger file sizes and better quality.

I find that the slow drive just makes you think about your photography more, instead of just firing like a machine gun and hoping for the best! You actually have to think about when to press the shutter, just like in the good old days. I like it.

Juha. It's ok. I don't use the 1D any more. I now use a 1DS and I'm about to start using a 1DS MarkII. I played around with the 1D to try to get the best out of it, but when the 1DS came out, I just upgraded. Fortunately, I don't buy my own cameras!!!!

Little feeling for the speed? Can you not see the blurred background and the spinning spokes on the wheels? Are you looking at the same picture?

This picture is purely an exercise in panning technique, to show the speed.

I'm afraid that I shot this while still using an EOS 1D, so the reds are a bit pink and the

overall quality of the image is generally not up to modern digital standards. Sorry.

Your views on the image none the less please...
