Thanks, Jan - She was very happy to have all of us photographers shooting her. The sun was rough that day, and I dislike the way Photoshop's Shadows&Highlights deals with the shadows, so I cleaned this one up manually, which seems to have payed off.

    Cheers!

  1. To Jan, Thank you for such kind words, from one such as yourself, means so much to me.

To Andre, The "paper mill stench" was filling my nostrills, permeating my clothes, and seemingly rotting the very wood that is the subject of this image. On top of all that, the steel mill still dusts the town in that sickly maroon tinge of metal refinement. I trust that there is nothing so offending in Texas, aside from a good old fasion cattle ranch, that is :-) Thank you for you wonderful words.

To Lesa and Deb, It is the wood that caught my eye, and my interest. Deb, have you taken in any of the HDR photography in PN? If not, I recommend you do a search and have a look, it is unbelievably unique. I plan to try HDR myself very soon, primarily for the way it brings out the lines of detail in wood-grain, for one.

    Thank you all so much!

Hi Jayme, I just bought Painter IX a while back and have yet to install it on my PC - but with this, you have inspired me. Nice job here, but I also have to say that I really like the b&W a lot too. Children are a lot of fun to photgraph, aren't they?
