I am really liking this. the only thing that would make it better is if the sun were slightly overshadowed perhaps by the right foot buti realise this is very hard to plan. Its still agreat action shot.

Thats powerfull!

Thanks for your comments.
Do you know what this one is called. If you do then please let me
know.
All my butterfly shots are straight from the camera, unaltered
except for scaling down to 1024 wide. Please take a look at the rest
and comment if you like.
how do I get closer head shots without shallowing the depth of field
so much that parts of the photo dont work?
Thanks

I decided not to crop to the head as I tried it and it just didn't
look as interesting. This is how it came straight from the camera.
In fact - all my butterfly shots are straight from the camera,
unaltered except for scaling down to 1024 wide

This the Bolton Wanderers Stadium at Middlebrook, Bolton. Its
actually about 4 miles behind the houses but in this zoom lens
flattened shot it looks a lot closer

I'm really feelin this!

Fantastic but I dont like the foreground feather. It doesn't add anything and it is distracting from an otherwise perfect scene. Perhaps a different crop would lessen its impact. I assume you put it there yourself. I also think that you probably put the birds central because of the symetry of their heads and I think this works well. Rule of thirds would not have worked on this shot.
Please remember that this is only an opinion and photography is very subjective.

Nothing das about it.
Looking through your other work I see much better photos but I see what you were trying to do with this and it doesn't work, at least, not as well as some of your others.
I like this one though ... http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=4747337

Should I brighten up the right edge or does it add interest /
contrast?
Thanks

This is a stitch of just three photos. Its not heavily manipulated
other than to adjust the levels slightly. Big version is 2000 wide
so you will have to scroll to see it all and its quite big (but not
as big as the original 5600pixel wide version)
Thanks

Bugger - thats what I was going to say!
I love this shot. Really captures the mood.
wheres the spider though?

I like the backward L composition of this shot and its true that this would be further enhanced by putting the horizon off-centre but I tried it and while you gain interest in the horizon you lose in the cloud detail on the top right so I think the composition is actually fine. I do however think it could have a little more contrast.
This is purely an amateur opinion but I am going to upload an adjusted version so that you can see. Maybe its a little false to mess in PS but then who says the camera is always right eh? Besides which, you can compensate for haze in PS so why not. Hope it doesnt offend (I just like messing with landscapes)..

Totally agree witrh the last comments. Perfect shot for a monotone. Not sure that the post isn't a little washed out though.

I thought the sign was amusing since there was nothing under it so I
put my car there for a laugh. Makes a change from a race track eh?

Now please dpont consider this a sun set as there is no sun and
actually hasn't been for over an hour. This is a slow shutter shot
in pretty dark surroundings. I took some more with up to 10 seconds
on the shutter but this one is only about 1.3 seconds.
It is heavily manipulated to massively over-saturate in an attempt
to capture a moody, lonely but peacefull place. I didn't want it to
be realistic. I am not sure if it works but I quite like it and
enjoyed attempting to capture it in the difficult conditions.
I actually got questioned by the police while taking this shot due
to my being in the middle of knowehere at night doing what they
thought was a bit strange.
Was it worth it? What do you think?

Exercise in reflections and colour
Do you like it?

I was going for the reflections and the colours. I have not modified
the photo yet but intend to. I think the suns reflection is
distracting but I am not sure how to minimise it without destroying
the photo.
Any help on this appreciated.
Also your comments please?
Thanks

I like this better than the other that you put up for critique.
This one has the doll looking at its outstretched hand - presumably as it dies. (or that's what I gather by the root and soil - its been murdered! Was that the idea?) It does look like its taking its last breath (yeah I know - its a doll, get real an all that, but hey - I like the idea and the shot.)
-
I am really liking this shot as I think the squirrel looks like its on one of those rope swings I used to play on as a kid getting from one embankment to another.
Hope you put this in the humor category.
Great shot m8

What have you got on your legs?
Interesting photo. but I think a reflection of something more obscure would be better - i.e. like your mate was watching something s/he shouldn't.
I like the daisy

I like this and I understand Lucy's point but I think the crop is right as the horizon is already in just the right place and a futher crop would destoy the way the tree on the right heads to the corner which I actually like. I think you should just add a slight it of iterest to the sky with a selective level adjustment. It might bring out the hills too. Just bring it a little more defined.
Really nice composition though. I love the diagonal.
