1.
Little disclaimer. I’m not really sure grand grand pap Wes discovered Devil’s Tower. I’m also not sure what camera he was using if any. It wasn’t Nikon for sure. It was another 20 – 30 years after that when massive transfer of science and technology started to Japan from the world and particularly from Germany. (Optical technology included in the mix)

 2.
When my grand grand father Wes discovered Devil’s Tower, Wyoming back in 1880 and took this picture with Nikon D200 + 50-135mm Ais it looked like this. Most likely he took also pictures of fist people climbing the rock. When I’ll find his old USB stick from that time with the pictures I’ll post them right away. Darn thing must be somewhere in the attic.

00ad0D-483105684.JPG.5ba692449e45a0d315fa1cfba32de536.JPG

 3.
Hello everyone,
Coco. Our Siamese male cut. Always friendly easygoing sack up. At same time mother nature gifted him with hunter’s soul. Summertime he was happiest to be outside always on the lookout for next fat mice. It turned out he wondered quiet far for next pray. We even didn’t realize how far he was going. On Sunday, crossing road he was no match for incoming car…. Goodbye our little baddy, we miss you very much.

00X9AX-272839584.JPG.6eb7f0a1780274e19bade541c10f9bab.JPG

 4.
As far I know/remember Nikon made just one pre AI version of this so versatile K Rings combination. Also don't expect auto aperture control. There is none. If you decide to use it - it's all manual. With lack of Nikon support in more specialized forms of photography we have to put up whatever they offered to as 40 years ago or turn to third party manufacturers like Vivitar or Kenko.
And, yes 20mm f3.5 with K1 works great for close-ups.

 5.
Hello Adam,
May I steer you in the other direction then 63mm nikkor? It is good lens but very overpriced. There is another alternative and you will not have to make focusing attachment to it. It is Novoflex Noflexar 3.5/35mm macro lens. It comes with M42 or exakta mount. To be able to focus to infinity you will need to unscrew existing mount and attach nikon replacement. Trick is - 1mm needs to be machined off before nikon mount is installed otherwise it wont focus all the way to infinity. I think Bjorn did it first. I made this change also and it works like charm. Noflexar can focus very close (it's macro lens) and UV transmission is great. You can easily (but not everyday) buy it on auction site for about $200.

 6.
For me it looks like something detached itself between mirror and shutter mechanism and is hanging there obstructing light path. Shutter seems to be OK. I don't think moisture caused this nor colder temperatures. Here in Canada we use Nikon gear in cold very often without any problems. Last winter I left D200 in the trunk of my car for 2 days at -20F (about -26C) for 2 days. After battery change it was working.

Great takes Jeannean and Dieter and all the participants. After so many Wednesdays I wouldn’t expect anything less.

In my today’s photograph is Kissing Bridge in West Montrose in area I live. Nothing really special. It’s digital take but I went there last Sunday to primarily document it on already discontinued Kodachrome 64. I still have couple of dozens left and Dwayne’s is still developing it until Dec 2010. If you still have some of it stashed it somewhere - take it out and shoot it because when is gone is gone. I have few little Kodachrome projects on the go. Main one is my closest family and friends. A lot of young kids in few last years were born. We are not getting any younger. I’m sure it will be a blast to pull Ektagraphic out and to see familiar but different faces 30 years from now with everlasting colors of Kodachrome.

 8.
Yap Jeannean. I know this guy. 3 weeks ago I met him at the shore of Huron Lake having last sip of nectar before long journey to Mexico. I'm glad it reached your area already. It's 2/3 of the way to its final destination. Great take Jeannean.
Very strong week everyone. I would like to leave form and shape of the WedNEsDAy tread as it is. Any changes even well meant may have negatively effect chemistry of this so popular tread.

 9.
Big Thanx for all commenting my monarch butterfly picture last week. I greatly appreciate that.
Picture bellow - crayfish in the minnow-floating bucket. This guy looks a little different then others. Sure think he’s not symmetrical.

00Ucli-176951584.JPG.9c65ed994e78eed7236ebc9ba5598620.JPG
