It was an overcast afternoon and that is probably why the sky looks washed out. The color version is a much tighter crop without the house and trees. Let me know what you think. I certainly welcome comments on how to improve this type of shot.

Great shot Leon! A bit overexposed up top but the expression is priceless. My boy is going through the exact same stage and cannot get enough of trains. You should try the Tilden Park Steam engines in the Oakland hills if you haven't done so already.

Here are a few suggesions: check the minimum focusing distance for the lens you are using; use a tripod and and the self timer; buy a macro lens. The colors are great. It is still a pleasing picture.
