How could you possibly know what "captures" this person? If you're dissatisfied that she isn't smiling with glee and staring into the lens you've missed the point. This image was chosen for the way it captures the model's essence at a specific moment in her life. As for the fact that she is more beautiful than my photos make her, you're absolutely correct. Hundreds of images later, I still haven't taken a perfect photo of her. When I get it right, I'll let you know. Also, I attached a photo of her posing with a friend. She looks more involved. Good tip.

Your work is truly spectacular, this photo notwithstanding. Your background in painting definitely stands out in your photography. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Mike. You're right about the eyes. Sometimes I probably need to step back for a bit longer before posting my final image. The photo deserves some more (less?!) work.

Believe it or not, these two girls knew each other for all of 10

minutes before posing for this photo. Shot in San Pedro, Belize.

The muted colors are unintentional. The transformation happened when I uploaded the photo and it appeared on the web. The original is more saturated. I'm not well versed in the proofing function in photoshop, but when I proof my working CMYK image in windows RGB, the result is fairly similar to the published file. This definitely deserves some research on my part.
