Critiques Welcome!

John, Lovely shot. The green grass and mist is wonderful. I visited Big Sur for the first time last fall and captured an image in almost the same place. I like how the browns of mine contrast with the greens of yours.

3/3 are Welcome!, but please tell me why.

Jelena,
I really like your exposure of the clouds but would suggest brightening the building a bit.
-
Matthew - I like the shadows and lines here. Depending on how proficient you are in photoshop you might consider boosting the saturation just a bit on the building.

Beautiful colors. I like the that the image moves down and to the right. This is unusual. 9 times out of 10 we see up and to the right.
I'm not sure who could justifiably give this image a 3/3. I'd be curious to know how this image falls below average aesthetically. In my own images I have noticed a huge increase of 3/3 ratings. I know rating do not matter.....

Nick,What I like most about this scene is the contrast between Primal Being - The Trees, Mans Authentic Extension of Primal Being - The Bikes, And Man's Disconnect with Primal Being - The Cars. Notice the beautiful pattern made by the branches of the trees that were ordered by nature and primal being. Notice how it is replicated in the bikes. The bikes are almost man's extension of nature. Now take a look at the line of cars. They stand in direct contrast to the other two.
On the other hand you could say that the line of cars resembles a herd of elephants crossing the Savannah with life buzzing above and below it.
Anyway, Well Done!

Thanks Lucy. I can see what you mean about the shadowy path, but there was no way around it. Those weeds in front of me were hanging over a vertical cliff. I was right on the edge. Any closer and I would be on an express train to the beach :)

Florian,
Thank you very much for your comments. I agree with what you have to say. In fact, I must have agreed at the time I captured the image which is why I had the lens zoomed in. The black frame is a bit cheesy and I should have blended the two images seamlessly. In hindsight, this might have been a better choice. I went out on a limb and tried something different. I wasn't sure if it was going to work, but I knew that the photo.net community would give it to me straight. Thank you for taking the time to help me become a better photographer and not just give me an anonymous 3/3.

Awesome image. Love the tonality and diagonal lines

I love the primary colors. I'm not too sure about your frame color choice. I think it takes away from this 6/5 image.

Thank you all for taking the time to comment on this image.

I love those gigapixel images. Thanks for reminding me of the link.

Keith, I see what you mean. They look a little squashed to me as well. Good eye with the horizon. I shot many images this day and want to go back and find one where I am down lower so the trees clear the horizon.

This image is a composite of two shots taken within seconds of oneanother. I had previously shown the inner image by itself
I thought it would be neat to impose thisimage on a wider view. On one hand I am thrilled that the birds allcooperated when the lens was zoomed in, but on the other hand it wouldhave been a spectacular image if I had captured this whole scene at once.
