Amazing Shot. Congratulations.

The little critter was genuinely hiding from a cat when I took this
picture :) His expression fascinated me.. Please take some time to
share your views.

Thanks Samrat. The photo was taken in evening, its bright because of the background which was dry leaves from the cut tree. Couldn't avoid that!

Thanks Eyad for the compliments. Have added the details now. Regards.

Thanks a lot Jerry for your tips. I have only just begun still life and am actually not very good at painting with light. These small tit-bits really help. Samrat I used window light here. Thanks for your time.
I actually also took the same picture with a curtain to diffuse and am attaching the result. For whatever reason I felt the diffused light made the picture rather flat and I really liked the tension created in the picture due to part overexposure. May be its a matter of personal taste also. Nevertheless a little less harsh light, somewhere in between my two different intensities might have been better I guess. Thanks folks.

Its a nice picture as is. A couple of suggestion which you might want to consider though -
1. Instead of one big circular color zone, if you selectively left the color on flowers, it might have been more impressive. You might want to visit

to see wonderful examples of post processing and selective coloring of snaps.
2. It might have been better to not have an out of focus flower in color right in the middle of the picture. My opinion though :)
