With a total area of 78 square km, the terrain of Koh Rong Island varies from thick forest covered hills to white sandy beaches. The hills provide water for countless creeks and estuaries with a number of seasonal waterfalls. There are 4 villages on the island where most local residents live from fishing and small scale crop agriculture. The main economic activity of the island is however rapidly shifting to tourism with 43 kms of pristine white sandy beaches and countless potential for trekking, fishing, and multiple water sports. While this economic boom appears to be a god sent for its inhabitant, if left uncontrolled, it may pose a significant threat to their culture and way of life. The island is connected to the mainland through regular and speed ferries.

Thank you Alf and Jack for your constructive and supportive comments. I do value them. Jack, falling into a cliché was very much on my mind here. It's always a concern when dealing with HDR and multiple exposures, wondering whether the saturation was pushed too far, or the contrast between the warm sunrise and the cold waves on the rocks worked. I'm glad to hear both your comments. Best always

The rugged coastline of Koh Rong island contrasts with its many white sandy beaches. This was taken at dawn with the sun barely coming up behind the clouds. This image comprises 4 exposures, blended in Photomatix Pro and processed in Lightroom and Photoshop. Your comments and suggestions are always appreciated and welcome

Koh Rong, is the second largest island of Cambodia. The word Rong might refer to an old term for cave or tunnel but it can also referred to the old Khmer word for shelter, e.g. shelter island. Located about 25 kilometers off the coast in the Gulf of Thailand, 43 km of its entire coastline of 61 km are beaches. In absence of even the most basic infrastructure, transport by boat is required to all settlements and holiday resorts, which are scattered all over the many beaches. This image consists of 5 different exposures including a long exposure to create the "foamy water", processed in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a note. I agree with you about the dark left bottom, i tried to open it up a bit in lightroom but didn't want to go too far and bring in a lot of noise. Maybe i should crop it a bit more and go for a panoramic format. THank you again for your positive contribution. Best always

Chau Say Tevoda is a lesser known temple at Angkor, as compared to Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom, and Bayon which receive thousands of visitors every day. It is much smaller then the others, and is located just east of Angkor Thom, across the Victory Way. It was built in the mid-12th century, it is a Hindu temple decorated with beautiful intricate carvings. thank you for your visit and comments
