Sunrise at Koh Rong Island

With a total area of 78 square km, the terrain of Koh Rong Island varies from thick

forest covered hills to white sandy beaches. The hills provide water for countless

creeks and estuaries with a number of seasonal waterfalls. There are 4 villages on

the island where most local residents live from fishing and small scale crop

agriculture. The main economic activity of the island is however rapidly shifting to

tourism with 43 kms of pristine white sandy beaches and countless potential for

trekking, fishing, and multiple water sports. While this economic boom appears to

be a god sent for its inhabitant, if left uncontrolled, it may pose a significant threat to

their culture and way of life. The island is connected to the mainland through regular

and speed ferries.

It certainly is a most beautiful and precious place, and I can understand your concerns relating to the fact that tourism is swiftly becoming a strong economic factor.  It kind of makes you want to protect its raw natural beauty. 

I love the way you handled this low light scene, there is enough detail in the foreground rock to make it both plausible and tangible!  Very well done Michel!
