If you are interested in off camera flash visit Strobist.com before you make any expensive decisions.

Core 2 Duo is the faster processor. Add another 1gb of memory.
Also other things that may sway your decision.....
Type of memory, DDR or DDR2. DDR2 is noticably faster.
Type of hard drive, IDE or SATA, SATA hard drives are way faster than IDE.

Nigel,
I use Adobe PS Album 2.0 to upload and show parents the photo's. It allows you to burn CDs of selected images and also links to Photoshop for major editing.

I used Adobe Photoshop Album 2 for a 2 day figure skating competition. It was perfect, we took 6500 photo's. It allows you to burn selected photo's to CD, make slideshows, and even links to Photoshop for major editing/design work.
It paid for itself in the first hour. I highly recommend it.

The 80-200mm f/2.8D ED (non AF-S) is an internal focus lens.

"However, there is very little to be saved in buying a digital slr body from the US and shipping it to Canada."
Jay I can either buy a EOS 1D MK11 N body from Henry's or for the same price buy the same body plus a 70-200 f2.8L lens from B&H. Slight difference eh?

I'm about to switch over to Canon and get a EOS 1D MkII (N) for shooting
sports. My main lens will be a 70-200 f2.8, but I don't know enough about the
Canon lenses to make my decision between IS and non-IS versions. I shoot Ice
Hockey, Figure Skating, Soccer, etc.
Any help appreciated
Thanks

Thanks guys, very helpful. I think I'm heading towards Canon. The D2Hs 4mp is a bit restrictive for what I need. I might have to sell my wifes car to buy a 1D MkII, but she'll understand!
Juha, I just spent an hour looking through your portfolio, very impressive. Great rally sequence shots and the Dallara at Le Mans is fantastic.

Last week I used a D200 to shoot a figure skating competition. The noise was
slightly better than my usual D70S, but still not great. Is the D2X better
than the D200 with regard to noise produced?
Or would I be better off to buy Canon?
Thanks in advance
Andy
What did you shoot this weekend?
