I think I may buy this lens to shoot baseball and daytime football, plus
nature. I've seen loads of sample images from it and have read about this lens
since last summer. I haven't seen too many baseball pictures taken with it.
Does anyone have any?

You know, I am too lazy. I didn't notice the "view complete gallery on one page". I'm sorry guys. Thanks for the link Josh. Oh and Josh, You Rock! I couldn't do your job with everyone like me bitching about everything all the time.

I don't know if anyone else has notice, but what's with all of our pictures not
showing up in our galleries without clicking a link? It looks like the magic
number is 20. I'm better at showing than explaining so I'll use mine as an
example. If you click on my name, you will go to my homepage. Right below my
Bio you will find: Gallery Photos (260 photographs total) After clicking on the
number 260 it takes you to all of my photos. Everything is fine until you get
down to "boys basketball." There are only 20 of my 36 images displayed. You
have to click "view all 36 images" to see the rest. My portfolio isn't a great
example because that's the only folder I have with more than 20 images, but
I've looked at other people's work and get frustrated because it's not showing
everything on one page. I'm too lazy to click "see all 36 images" at the bottom
of 13 different folders in someone's portfolio. I like to scroll down and see
the entire collection that each user has posted without having to click a link
wondering if I'm wasting my time or not. I hope this makes sense, even better,
I hope it's an option that I can turn off somehow. Is anyone else upset about
this, or am I just too lazy? Thanks for reading.

Thanks again guys.....I'm going for the pocket wizards. I do want something reliable and well built. Also, in the future I may want to strobe a basketball gym, so I think it's the best way to go.

Thanks for the responses. Lex, yeah Matt got it right. The AB transmiter has no lock and is very loose in the hotshoe. Also, I couldn't remember the name, but the Elinchrom Skyports that Matt mentioned were there for sale also for around $200 for a pair. I had never heard of them, so I didn't buy. I know the PWs are the best, but $400.....Are there less expensive pocket wizards, maybe older ones that would still work for me? Thanks guys. By the way, how did I get all of the big guys to answer this question? Lex, Josh, and Ellis all in one place....=)

I almost bought a set of PW's the other day, but I just couldn't give $400 for
only 2 of them. I need something though. I have alien bees strobes. I did use
the transmiter and receiver from AB until I got my 40D. For whatever reason the
transmiter is too loose in the hotshoe of the 40D and I have to hold it on
tight by hand for it to work. I want to stick with something wireless. Is there
another option to Pocket Wizard that is good? I don't need 1600 feet or 12 FPS
sync, just something that will make my lights fire without me having to worry
if the next shot is going to work right or not. I could maybe see spending
around $200 for 2.....maybe. Thanks.

Yeah, I don't see any problem with the 10-20mm. Seems like a great lens. I'm kind of worried about the 24-70 (sigma). I've been reading about it tonight and it looks like some people have softness issues wide open.
-
I've got myself in a mess again. I need some new lenses. I have the canon 24-
105 L is, 75-300mm, 50mm 1.8, and 18-55mm kit. I'm shooting with a 40D. I know
I will be getting a 70-200 f/2.8 non IS soon. That lens makes the most sense
for my work. I shoot sports, portraits, and general p journalism stuff. I am
considering selling or trading the 24-105 for sigma 24-70 f/2.8 and a sigma 10-
20mm. I love the 10-20. I have tried that out. I love the pictures that it
makes. The 24-70, I don't know so much about. I have heard that it is almost on
par with canon's 24-70 L. I can't verify that. I hope someone can. I understand
that you get what you pay for, and the canon v/s sigma is $1139 v/s $429. So
how does this sound? 1: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6, 2: Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, and
3: Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 non IS, with extender if needed. I can do without the
24-105 if I have those others. Anyone use this lineup? Also, anyone need a 24-
105?
Forgot to say, I am also getting the canon 85mm f/1.8 for portraits and
basketball.
I will use the 70-200 for baseball and football although I know it's very
short. I can't afford anything else right now and I need an all purpose fast,
long lens for basketball, baseball, football, and volleyball.
Thanks

Shay,
For someone who claims to just be starting with portraits this is great. I really don't see anything wrong with it. Someone said that your DOF is too shallow but I think it works fine. Alot of portrait photographers will add some blur to the entire portrait except the eyes in post. This is no different. The front eye is in sharp focus, well sharp enough. It actually looks like the focus is on the forehead area. I shoot most of my portraits between f/8 and f/11 because that's where my lens looks the best. Really though, this is great. Practice makes better, right? I'm still trying to get good. We learn something new everyday. Take care my friend.

yes, the button works fine with everything else.
-
Let me add something else. I do see some of the shortcuts listed in window>workspace>keyboard shortcuts and menus, but The "ctrl" key plus anything gives me nothing. The "alt" key does work. Alt+L will get me the layers menu, alt I - image menu. Thanks for any help.

Hi Jim,
Thanks, that got me to the right place, but there are no keyboard shortcuts stored. I clicked on "reset keyboard shortcuts" but it didn't store any. I'm not real sure what is going on. It's not life or death, but I think it would make things easier to be able to use the keyboard. Thanks again.
-
I'm sure this is simple but can anyone tell me why I'm not able to use keyboard
commands in PS CS2? I'm sure it's just an option I have turned off but I can't
find it. Thanks.

If someone would have walked up to me 2 years ago and told me that I would be
working for a newspaper, I would have told them that it would never happen. I
was shooting sunsets and lakes, and loving it. I started getting into night
photography soon after. Still love that, just haven't done much lately. I
always thought that I would shoot landscapes forever. Then I realized that I
would never make money on sunset pictures. Again I would have never thought
that I would ever buy studio strobes and shoot portraits, I mean come on. I'm a
guy, who in High school, was so shy that I couldn't even talk to someone to
make new friends. How could I meet new people and pose them and make a good
photo? I'm different now. My photography is different. I don't think that
portraits are as much fun as waiting an hour for the perfect moment in a
sunset, but portraits pay. It's been months since I shot a sunset or anything
outside really. Now I shoot mostly basketball and shots of my baby girl growing
up. Spring will surely offer more changes as the weather warms up and I
actually want to go outside again. Has anyone else ever changed your style just
to make money? I love photography, but it seems that now that I am making money
at it, it's not as fun. Basketball is fun even though I don't really care for
the sport. I just don't have the same feeling in a gym with hundreds of people
as I did all alone on a lake at sunset with only my thoughts and dreams to keep
me company. Is there a point to this thread? NO. Just something to think about.
I know I have thought alot about it. I think I'm gonna spent alot more time
shooting sunsets and stars this spring, money or not. Cheers<div></div>

You will have alot of fun Will. I've been shooting basketball for over a month now for a local newspaper. I have to shoot ISO 3200 with my 40D because the lights are so bad. I hate using speedlights, although I had to some last night. I found that anything under 1/400th just isn't quick enough. Like Wilson said, aim for 1/500th, f/2.8.<div></div>
