  1. Like I said no problem here...

But did anyone stop and thing that with the III you are getting 25% more frames per second than the mark II

Therefore you will have 25% more out of focus shots with a III

I don't remember any film bodies shooting at 10fps... Eos1HS didn't even get that fast. How many frames did you have out of focus on your EOS film bodies?

And the degree of out of focus on these "reports" is minuscule and wouldn't be able to be detected once you run the image through an offset press....

I dont think you will be doing any gallery pieces where you shot 10fps in servo...

  2. I've been playing with the III for a week now and can't find any issues with it...

I've shot the D3 and the only thing it has (I hate the ergonomics of Nikon, that is enough to keep me from ever using them) is High ISO. It doest get contrasty. I like how Nikon went from the worst in the noise/ISO to the best.(for now)

I have no problems with the 3200iso images on the MarkIII. Much better than the II and other bodies.

It will be interesting to see the second coming of the 5D.

I never see the 1D compared to the D3 always the 1Ds

Yes they are both top of the line but I don't think they are comparable

  3. So,

I have my first loan from CPS a Mark III and 16-35 2.8 II

I had them delivered to my office (I'm a PJ at a newspaper) They were delivered

on a Friday and sat in the receptionist office until Monday.

So, I missed out on three days with the loaned gear.

My question is how strict is CPS about getting it back to them by the due date?

I know NPS will send you a bill if you don't get it back in time and just to

    remind you.

Will Canon freak out if I don't it in their hands on the due date?

I'm in the US if that matters.

I have another 30D body it can format the faulted card but it wont recognize the images

I have not taken the other body out at the same time...

No the pins are not bent either, that was one of the first things I checked.

Yeah, I haven't removed the CR(###) battery (coin battery), I might do that reinstall the firmware and re-format all my cards.

After Canon re-approves my CPS I will just have them loan me a Mark III and a 16-35 to play with then send in the funny acting body.

I wrote the first post after it happened this morning...

I first put the card into my reader and into a mac G5, the mac wouldn't open the DCIM file folder

So I go back to my PC and it locks up once I put it in. So I take it back to the body it was shot on and it wont recognize the files but it will format it.

I am trying to be methodical and troubleshoot to pinpoint the source every time it happens but it changes slightly every time.

  5. In regards to formatting....

I know all about formatting properly, the issue is I cant format in the camera when this issue comes up. They only way that I can get the camera to function properly is to format the card on the computer, insert it in the camera and format again. Then it is fine. I always format a card when it is put back in the body.

I would prefer not to disable the auto-off because of battery usage. I need to be able to shoot all day and sometimes when I run out quickly for a story the extra batteries are at the office.

The file system I am familiar with for my years of Canon digital usage is

    "drive letter"/EOS_DIGITAL/DCIM/"folder number"

When the problem arises it is no longer EOS_DIGITAL but ENS@DI^NTAL

This morning it happens indoors, but I had just come in from the cold. I had shot some then then about 10min later I was back inside. I "wake up" the body by pressing the shutter to show some images on the rear screen and I get "ERR CF"

The other times is has happen while I was still out in the cold.

  6. I have been shooting digital EOS for 4 years now. Never had an issue like this

before. I have searched extensively for an answer.

Recently when shooting cold weather (40*F-25*F) that is about as cold as it gets

around me. I can shoot for a few minutes maybe 50 frames and then I let the

camera go to auto off after a minute.

Few min later I pick it up press the shutter to wake it back up and then I get

ERR CF, press the preview button and it says "No Image".

I put in another card, same problem, and so on. Every card I put in gets an error.

These are all SanDisk Extreme III cards that have been in my pocket to keep

warm. It is not a issue with the cards. It has done it to Lexar, and all levels

    of SanDisk.

I pop the cards in my Lexar Pro CF reader and the drive is no longer F:/EOS_DIGITAL

    it is F:/ENS@DI^NTAL

The images are still on the card and not corrupted.

I have to pull the images off then format with my OS and rename the file system

as EOS_DIGITAL in order for my camera to not freak out and give ERR CF.

So I have to have a computer nearby to repair the problem everytime.

I have reset the file numbering also so, that cant be the issue.

I have downgraded, upgraded and reinstalled the firmware. But it keeps happening.

Anyone else have similar issues. This is killing me. I am a photojournalist at a

newspaper and am dependent on my equipment to work all the time.

CPS still updating my membership so I have to wait for that to come through

    before I send it in...

  7. Wood, no marking for brand.

It is in good shape to be about 30-40years old. Aluminum darkslides. needs a spot of glue on a corner since the original glue has failed, not broken just needs new glue. and the hinging tape is a bit stiff from age.

ebay has seen one as far as I can see so I would rather not put it on there

  8. I have an 11x14 film holder that I would like to sell. I live in a remote area

and have no photographic community or contacts and would like some insight on

where to go about selling it. I have posted it on the classified here but not

sure as to how much traffic they recieve especially for 11x14 equipment. So any

    input would be great

  9. well the "$15 shake" isn't even shipping yet. I just find it strange because I know with Canon's bodies they usually have them in stock for months after the newer body is shipping, they do not disappear before the new one ships.

I noticed that the 285HV is being re-released with a metal shoe but that is not something you really ever see on a camera body, I guess it would be nice to have it on a stand or such for durability. I agree that I would rather save my 3-6x more expensive camera body than my strobe.

  10. So what is withe everyone being sold out of the 580ex. I know they have released

the type2 but how long ago would they have stopped shipping the type1. B&H has

the US warranty model but probably in short supply, KEH and Adorama are out.

Adorama doesn't even show them anymore just the new type2, Amazon is the same

way. I dont feel that the minor improvements are worth the extra $100 and wanna

get one new is B&H my only hope?

  11. I shoot 100iso in at night quite often... I have no problem with noise. partly because I shoot nighttime in the winter. If you shoot in cold weather you will get the best performance from your cmos... Learn from the astro-photographers who chill their ccd's with dry ice or liquid nitrogen.
  12. I have a 65mm and 90mm for my RB67 and plan on getting a 180mm in the

    near future.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with generic screw in 77mm

folding rubber hoods or the expandable hoods for the cokin P series

    holders

any advice on the subject of hoods for my lenses would be great...

I just dont see the need in spending 4x more for the dedicated mamiya

hoods but I feel it may be my only option for my 65mm

  13. I am considering buying the camera picutred below and I am curious if

the wrinkleing on the bellows on the right side is normal, is that

somthing I should try to avoid, veteran users what are you thoughts?<div>00G7C7-29523184.JPG.db4c0d04c94a79ca2b4dde1252b7ed0a.JPG</div>

  14. I search a bit and didnt see these answers so... here I go

I am about to buy my first medium format and I have a few questions

I will be doing mainly landscape and portrait work

So am correct to assume that a 50mm MF lens would give a similar FOV

to a 28mm 35mm lens? and a 90mm MF lens would give me similar FOV of a

    50mm 35mm lens.

I plan on getting an RB67 pro-s w/ wl finder 120 back and 90mm lens.

Will the Cokin "P" series holder be fine for my lenses if I were to

    have the 65mm, 90mm, 180mm lenses?

Would you stay away from a bargain lens form KEH? I have yet to do

buisness with them so I am not sure what a bargain lens would be, it

says that optical perfomance should be fine just brassing and such.

Also if there is anything else I should know before committing to MF

    regarding the Mamyia RB67 pro-s

    Thanks in advance,

    Brian
