I didn't use any special lighting, just the available natual light with maybe some Tungsten (not in these frog photos though)

You can use the natural light in a way so that you can get pretty good color effects from it. as you know, direst daylight and casated light and shadow light, they all have a different color temprature and with proper positioning and anglING, you can get pretty good effects. The colors in this frog in pretty interesting, ranging from it's bright red eyes to it's blue belly and neon green body. The very green on the top is backlighted through a leaf of the plant.

I like this a lot Etan. The cat was captured very beautifully with great catchlights. The red on the wall looks really good and I like his shadow on the wall. I would clone out the white wire hanging down though.

The buildin itself is captured nicely. The perspective however is way off, more than could be accepted. I'd correct the perspective in PS. By doing so, you lose part of the image, therefore, you'd have to step back when taking the image to account for your image lose.

I find the snow orwhatever is going on on the lower right, distracting. The clouds look fine, except for the fact that the color saturation you did, is kind of obvious, patches of different colors are seeping through. It is also blown out in the lower left corner.

If you want to treat and tweak the sky and the building separately, you may also give this a try, tweek the building and duplicate the image. treat and tweak the sky and then brush or clone it on your duplicate.

Nice capture, great sky. I like how the clouds fan out around the dome.

I really don't think the manhole belongs in this picture. I would start from just past the manhole and the puddle will leave enough interest for the first 1/3 and the foreground.

5D is still expensive. You have to get lenses and that will end up costing you way over $4,000.00. R1 seems to be a good choice. Good luck, wish I could help.

Thanks for stopping by Christopher.I took these frog series in my Jeep! Here, it was sitting on a small plant on the dashboard and I had the long lens on the steering wheel. Why in the car you may ask, because it was so cold for them outside of their tank. I had the heat going all the way.

It was taken at F8, 1/30 and ISO 800.

beautifully exposed night shot.I love the contrasting purplish blue against the yellow stretch of lights.

I know we are sometimes limited by the how much we can step back and/or by the lens at hand. I would have rathered see some of the road as well. this would have also worked as some sort f a scaling factor as well.

Thank you for the critique. I was also limited by the door cage which I had to crop on the left. Don't you think since the snake is looking to it's left, to the direction from which the photo was taken, would not require the space to it's right anyway?

I always wanted to visit GiaYuGuan, wasn't able to. Thank you for bringing it to me. What I like best about this image are the colors. The cloud-coverd mountains in the near and the snow-covered peak in the distant horizon look great as well.

This has rhe best exposure of the three. The sky, the horizon and the distance field look just great. The foreground had a bit more contrast that your camera could handle but it doesn't look bad.

with digital, your learning curve in photography will increase by at least 20 times! This is not a bad camera, not great either, has it's limitations.

The images of sara and your tweety are good but they do need to be more focused. you will also get the hang of the exposure as well. Next time try these portraits near a northern exposure window and you'll probably see a difference. You can also stop by at home depot and buy a silver coated foam insulation piece for 4 bucks. you can put this foam on the shadow side to reflect the light back to fill the shadow side of your model, no flash here.

When you are ready, I have good suggestions for you for a DSLR camera if you wish to go that rout.

For your digital dark room, let me know if you are ready to tackel the unlimited world of Photoshop.

So, Northern exposure, withor without foam core reflector. Be careful of the intensity of the light coming in. You may want to keep asome distance to where the light is diffused enough so that you won't blow the lighted side. The beauty of digital, you can see right away what have you done or what to do next.

Yes, this lens is probably the best deal out there for about a $100.00 or so, specially when compared to it's bigger brother 85mm 1.4 for a $1000.00 !

Yes, the shadow was bothering me but did not have the patience at the time to clone it out, so I was contemplating on chopping his head!

The diagonals were pleasing to me as well. I hadn't even noticed the extra action under his arm pit. BOY, you are good!

I agree with you about not having enough male models on this site. That's why I'm planing to post lots and lots of self portraits !! ;o)

This crop was done for 24X30 posters this shop is going to make. I was hard pressed as how to make the crop. I did it this way for two reasons. First and foremost, if I had left more space to the left, that would have kinda centered the snake for an 8X10. second, since the snake is actually looking towards the camera which is to the right of the frame, I was more comfortable with not having extra space on the left.

No, it was not a Boa. I was told that it was a python!

The bedding, I know! This snake was so huge and I had to get so close that I was affraid he might snap my head and spit the camera!
