Hi Shirley - this is a lovely shot which captures the little girl perfectly. From a composition point of view I would have gone a little more traditional rule of thirds and put a little more space around her. My eye was drawn to her fingers and dress where they were touching the edge of the image. Small criticisms on what is a lovely photo. Kind Regards, Steve

You kindly commented on one of my images recently and it brought me to your portfolio. Fantastic photos - too many to comment on! But this one caught my eye - what a great idea and really well executed. Happy Holidays from New Zealand, Steve.

Hi David,
Thanks for commenting on one of my portraits recently - it brought me to your portfolio. Your nudes are great but it was this feller that caught my eye - lovely tones and great detail. Have a Happy Holiday!

Don't know whether I am qualified to critique; however, I can comment on what I like or don't like about the image. I like the B&W treatment and the tones in the image, although overall it is a bit dark. I think you have overdone it on the vignetting. The placement of the subject in the centre of the image doesn't quite work for me (I'm a 'rule of thirds' kind of guy). I suppose at the end of the day it all comes down to what you are trying to portray with this shot and as a viewer I am unsure. By the way, you have some lovely images in your portfolio. Steve

First of all, I like this image! However, I do keep getting drawn away from the main subject by the young man in the background. I am not sure why you put the border on the image which, for me,exacerbates the 'ear bleed' you refer to. I think I would have been tempted to have the background more out of focus. However, as I said before, I really do like this image and it definitely engaged me and made me think, which has to be a good thing for an image to do. Kind Regards, Steve

I don't think it is a boring image; however, as you (me) scan through the images in the Critique forum it does not leap out at you as a particularly strong image in comparison with the rest of them. As an aside, what it did do was lead me to your portfolio where you have some great images and I am grateful for that opportunity. Kind Regards, Steve

Great image - love to see what she looks like without your creative treatment. Another fantastic photograph. Kind regards Steve

You kindly commented on one of my photos and that brought me here. I really like your landscapes and this one is my favourite. It would look equally as good as a B&W. You can almost feel the cold looking at it.
Kind Regards, Steve
