I was able to manually override the settings with the frame offset option. I used -5, +65, +125, and +185. But the machine made some noises it never did before.

I had 9.0.45 on, I went to the site and downloaded 9.0.47 same result, I even went back to 8.6.32 same result. I already contacted Ed. Cannot change the cropsize, the whole negative stip (for y) would be about 250mm, it won't go above 89mm (or about 2 frames).

Vuescan will only recognize 2 frames on a 4 frame negative strip (6x6). The two frames it recognizes are not even centered. Any help appreciated.

I stick on one of those address labels that charity organizations are always sending. Kills two birds, your address is on the film to prevent it from being lost.

Vivitar HVP-1 is the battery pack that holds the 497. Vivitar made a rechargeable battery called the RB-510, the charger was the A/CH-75. They can still be found on ebay, probably will have to recell the battery.

I took a "Zone System" course when I was in College and I used Edwal FG7 and Kodak Tri-X. What we found out was you lost a stop of exposure. So I would suggest shooting at 200, at 400 it's like you're "pushing" it, which would increase grain.
